Team camaraderie at Stoke was such a positive sign

There’s definite optimism after Ramsey’s horrific injury

Team camaraderie at Stoke was such a positive sign

Bendtner: Welcome return

I am writing this not long after the hard fought 3-1 victory against Stoke City and my thoughts are immediately with young Aaron Ramsey. What a talent this boy is and the potential he has shown over the past few weeks have only continued to whet the appetite for things to come in the future. I am furious this sort of situation continues to haunt us and I only hope he recover as quickly and returns in Arsenal colours.

Going into the game I knew, after our previous difficulties at The Britannia Stadium, that we were going to be tested both physically and mentally. To concede from another one of Rory Delap’s throw ins was very disappointing to say the least. You can only hope for a positive reaction and I thought we took the game to Stoke well and competed magnificently.

I feel we have missed Nicklas Bendtner immensely over the past few months, where his form before his injury certainly suggested he had been making great strides in his development. His goal demonstrated what he can bring to this Arsenal team and he finished in great style. Perhaps this sort of goal has been missing from our play this season so it pleasing to have an aerial threat in the ranks again.

The team demonstrated to a lot of people that they have some fight in them and for me were lead superbly by Cesc. He was magnificent all game and drove the team forward despite the horrific scenes they witnessed regarding the Ramsey incident. The second and third goals were celebrated with great emotion and were of course dedicated to the young Welshman. The camaraderie shown at the end of the game as well - with the players’ huddle - left me feeling confident that this team is going places and that we are very much in the mix, where nobody should rule Arsenal off just yet.

Although against Manchester United and Chelsea it has been proved that we lack the killer instinct needed, I still believe that we have more than enough ability in the squad to capitalise on any points being dropped elsewhere. I only hope we use this result as a stepping stone and use Ramsey as a motivation to lift some silverware at the end of the season.
