Let's get behind the boys

Fabregas: Badly missed

This game was not for any faint hearted Arsenal supporters out there. I always felt that Arsenal would go on to get the second goal needed but as time wore on, our frustration grew. At 0-0 we were cruising but once Arshavin produced a moment of magic, we looked very edgy and almost enticed an equalizer from Hull. Although Hull rarely threatened Almunia, we couldn't find any inspiration to put the game to bed, especially after the Boateng sending off.

It appears as though we are better accustomed to chasing a goal as opposed to killing games off. Wenger has already pointed out that we lost focus and this is exactly what we were lacking. How many times over the past few years have we been in a situation where we have been dominating proceedings and expecting the floodgates to open, only to be pegged back to level terms? Teams are only too happy to sit back, as Hull proved on Saturday, and settle for what they have against us.

I think the big plus from Saturday's game was that we maintained our progressive play until the end and I feel, got the three points we just about deserved. People can complain about the penalty decision, with regard to the offside, but these are situations we should be able to deal with. A flicked ball over the top and we were caught. Although I still feel the penalty was harsh, Sol did attack the ball rather clumsily and Hesselink was very happy to go down.

Clearly we missed Fabregas. Our little genius just gives us an extra 20% - drive, enthusiasm, belief, quality – and within a couple of years we will be able to state that we have the best player in the world, mark my words. Before this season the only thing lacking was a respectable goals tally but he has emphatically put that to bed this year. Diaby had a good game, Nasri kept the ball well and on the odd occasion Eboue looked lively. I think the thing lacking was killer instinct. Both Arshavin and Bendtner had great opportunities but couldn't supply the finishing touch. Had Van Persie been available for selection, I am almost certain we would have been talking about a cricket score.

I know there has been criticism of Denilson, especially after Saturday's performance but let's get behind everyone in our drive for the title. I agree that he doesn't give us anything different than what we already have and for me I can't quite confirm if he is either an attacking midfielder or a defensive one. We know we already have specialist players in these areas but he is in there to retain possession and keep our game ticking over. Don't forget he's still a young lad and Wenger is very rarely wrong in his judgments on his young crop.

All in all, a very valuable three points that takes us very nicely into the West Ham United game. Let's get behind the boys for what is surely going to be another rollercoaster climax to the season and what could and should be a very glorious end.
