Whilst there is no shame to lose to without doubt the best club side in world football at the moment, this latest failure coupled with other losses to any half decent sides we have faced in the last eighteen months tells you everything about the decline in Arsene Wenger's stewardship. Losing is acceptable IF you can take positives out of the way you have lost, isolate where you have gone wrong, analyse and look to improve accordingly. Can someone tell me where we are improving? The losses to United, Chelsea and Barca last night (6-3 flattered us over two legs as did 4-1 to United last year) have shown again against the benchmark teams we are miles away.
Still Wenger is allowed to go on his merry way, with a weak and unambitious board frightened to death of losing him. Unless someone is prepared to stand up and question the great one, the years of failure will continue. Yes, of course injuries haven’t helped, but they should not and cannot be used as yet another excuse for the Frenchman.
Methinks Arsenal 2010 is run by a stubborn, dictator, unwilling and unable to accept HIS way isn't working. As fans, whilst we have no divine right to demand a trophy, we can certainly justifiably ask why we have been misled so many times since the move from Avenell Road. We were told the move to the Grove would allow us to compete at the very highest level rather than punching above our weight as was consistently alluded to at Highbury. Well, correct me if I'm wrong but virtually every heavyweight clash we seem to be entering into at the moment is leaving us dazed, shell-shocked, outclassed and totally out of our depth.
Still please don't blame Arsene, he still knows doesn't he? One wonders if Fab will feel the same in the summer after being in the company of his Barca chums for the month of June.
