Reflections after two matches with Barcelona

Well another Champions League campaign over for another season, and what have we learnt from it? I think we have learnt that we are still miles away from winning it and deep down I think Arsene Wenger thinks so as well. All credit to Barcelona for playing the most beautiful game of football I have seen, ever. Let's hope they go and win it now.

But what about us? That is what we aspire to, to play the game like that as often as posssible, to show to the world that it's possible to play the beautiful game as it's meant to be played and to be competitive without feeling the need to maim great players that you can't match for skill.

I hope this doesn't come across as strange but I felt proud of Arsenal over the two games for the simple reason that we tried to play football against Barca and we didn't attempt to kick them out of the match - that's providing we could have got close enough to them to kick them. I wonder how Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets and Sergio would get on at Stoke, Bolton, or Blackburn? I think Cesc would be better staying with us for another couple of years because I'm not sure he will be a first choice in Barca's midfield at the present time.

Now that Kroenke has "almost" got control of the club and with Le Boss's contract expiring at the end of next season I think we are going to see some major developments at the club this summer. I think a few of the fringe players will be gone - Silvestre, Traore, Senderos, Gallas and/or Campbell, Merida, Eduardo, Fabianski and maybe even Almunia as well.

So you have money coming in for some of them plus the money you save from their salaries added to the transfer kitty we have ready to use. I think Arsene will buy at least three top quality players this summer added to Chamakh, who everyone seems to think has already signed for us. We still have lots to play for this season, we wanted to be challenging for the title and we are so let's go to White Hart Lane and stuff the Spuds and finish their Champions League quest once and for all.

One last thing, can we start some sort of campaign to get our traditional away colours back please? Yellow shirts, navy blue shorts, not the imitation Spuds and Chavs kits we wear now. Keep believing Gooners.
