That's a Whupping

But this team can still achieve things with some much-needed surgery

That's a Whupping

It was the Song injury and the Cambell absence that finally pushed me over the edge. By 6pm I couldn't stomach waiting to see us getting our arses kicked so I went out to watch Kickass and didn't come home until it was over.

Never was a defeat more on the cards than this. Score one and keep a clean sheet - naah. Score three and keep them to the same - not on your life. But I think this squad, if added to in the sane manner we all know Arsene Wenger is capable of, has turned the corner.

If they go to play the Spuds feeling sorry for themselves they have no excuses. Go to win, play with pride and imagine they are the Barcelona youth team on a bad day and beat them as you must. Win every game, put the pressure on the Chavs and the Mancs and emerge from the bruising arena of Ewood and the banana skin of Adebayor and Co having an unhappy reunion and we at least find closure with pride, dignity and possibly a trophy.

Sure, we are deluded optimists. Sure this team can't beat Barca even with our first 11 on ketamine, steroids and a pep talk from the Lord God Almighty but things change. Ditch the sentiment and Eduardo, flog Vela to a mid-table La Liga side, read Rosicky the riot act and if Billy G goes then that's two new centre backs with Silvestre released. Keep Sol for the definite qualities he has brought but 4th/5th choice only. Add a winger and a goalie of class and that's a team. Assume that however sh***y the gods of football are they won't cripple half the squad for a third straight season in a row and incorporate Wilshire into the squad effectively.

Get out there, puff your chests out, play like your lives depend on it and win until the final whistle on the final day sounds and see what happens when the dust has cleared.
