Disappointing night and a disappointing end to the season losing to the scum. For me though the team has over achieved yet prior to kick off I was confident of a win and for us to take Chelsea right to the death. However all optimism and hope vanished from my body when Thomas pulled up with his calf. The useless Silvestre was never going to cut it and we conceded an awful second goal. The game continued and I was left to marvel at a fantastic cameo from RVP. It made me think if only he had stayed fit, if only... but let's be honest, he never really had a chance did he with our physio and medical staff.
I know, I know, he got injured for Holland but the rest of the squad continue to pick up injury after injury, have done all season and this for me has ultimately caused us to come up short. Certainly Nicky B having his 'setback' (probably one of the most overused words in the Arsenal medical room) meant he missed another month and a bit which killed us over the Xmas break. Theo having setback after setback - three this year - is unacceptable. I mean what do we pay these people for?!
The best one for me was probably last year with the Tomas Rosicky situation and the "We don't know what is wrong him" quote. Oh right, ok, nice. Earning your money there guys. This was almost eclipsed though this year with allowing RvP to go to waste ten days trying to put horse placenta on his ankle. Hello Arsenal doctor, why let him do this if its not going to work?! Just think now post-Spurs if he had that op ten days earlier. And what about Cesc? "His leg was looked at by two independent doctors." Sure, sure, funny how he cracks his fibula in virtually the same place he got kicked against Birmingham. What are the chances? Freak accident? More like gross incompetence. Add that to Gallas breaking down five minutes into Barcelona at home, Arshavin five later and now Thomas (and if you haven't heard that is also a calf strain, three weeks out) and you have a shocking pattern. I mean Thomas hasn't played in over a week, fresh and ready!
Coincidence or not you have to admit our injuries every year seem to be getting worse and worse. This has to be addressed and I only wish I had a spare 10k, because if I did, I would buy one of Lady Nina's shares, go to the AGM and quiz Arsene on this. I would present him with the stats I have - which make shocking reading - and suggest to him that he should look at a new physio, doctor and fitness/conditioning coach.
Ultimately as a team I feel we are a couple of players short and lack a bit of nouse, but we have a fantastic football side. The problem is none of the strongest eleven ever get a chance to play with one another, and frankly in my opinion they never will unless we change our medical personnel.
