Something at stake on Sunday

A meaningful end of season game after all!

Spurs in the Champions League or Chav hoodies?

And now Sunday matters. It matters in a very big way.

The chav hoodies hanging outside the corner shop with their BMX and baggy tracksuit bottoms have been invited for a tour around Harrods next season. If we fail to do the obligatory on Sunday, they may well take advantage and smugly squat for the season.

This cannot be allowed.

Despite City having the bankroll to take things to the next level if they could add Champions League Football to the blank cheques being handed out, as the game kicked off my natural instincts kicked in. I wanted Spurs beat, but City were rubbish. Adebayor showed the side to him which meant we weren't sorry to see him go. Lazy and Offside. You'd want more from a £25m striker. A couple of early storming runs from Tevez and the same amount of woeful headers from Kolo was just about all they could muster.

As such, it was no surprise when the lanky freak sent the ugly end into delirious raptures, as dreams of joining football’s elite for a fillet steak dinner moved closer. They'd probably have their's well done, or ask for a Subway instead.

The Champions League is already tarnished by the mere threat of their inclusion, with shares down and disappointing eyes looking at the Premier League wondering how? Well, firstly, let’s blame Liverpool. They've relinquished their seat at the top table through apathy and NGog, leaving the door open and a seat free for unwanted guests. Aston Villa faltered in the final furlong as they did last year. It was evident they didn't posses the quality required when they failed to take the game to us at Villa Park in the second half. They settled for a point, as did City at our place last month. Ambition?

In a poor Premier League season, Spurs have avoided the lasagne, beaten Arsenal and Chelsea within a week, and now confirmed forth. That must be their only glory, the peak of the DVD.

The Arsenal face a Fulham side beaten at home by Stoke last night, with minds and both eyes on their Europa League Final. Reserves. We are owed a performance. We've been playing like the season was over for the last few weeks, with the league out of reach and Champions League exited. The players haven't even coasted to the final game, they've caved in, believing there was nothing to play for. They were wrong. Even when silverware cannot be grasped there is pride, there is the cannon and there are those poor faithful thousands who followed them to Wigan and Blackburn. Now there is something even bigger to play for, and they’d better be aware of it. There has to be a response.

A draw would avoid the unmentionable, but a win is demanded.

“Spurs are heading for the Champions League", assume Sky Sports and their moronic following. Not quite. Forth does not guarantee this, ask Everton and then laugh at the short odds of just 20/1 for Tottenham to win the Champions League next season. Twenty to f***in one. Writing it is very silly, let alone backing it.

If our players remember their jobs on Sunday, Spurs will still have the possibly tough task of having to qualify for the Champions League. AC Milan. Hopefully. I'll happily suffer their smugness all summer if it means them falling at the first hurdle come early August.

Third of course does guarantee a place among the elite, and it had better be us sitting there come Sunday evening.

“Remember who you are and what you represent".
