So from surprise inclusion to fall guy in four years. Theo may have impressed Sven in 2006, but four years on and Fabio has clearly seen what Arsenal fans see every week. Nothing.

Because that is what Theo offers. Nothing. He has pace. That's it. He lacks everything else required at the top level. Poor finisher, terrible crosser who couldn't trap a bag of cement and has the first touch of a baby elephant on ice. A flash of brilliance every six months is not good enough at any level. Fabio has clearly seen that Theo is a poor Championship player at best and my only hope is that Arsene Wenger will cotton onto this soon and send our most over-rated player packing back to the south coast.

Not quite sure why his omission from the squad is proving to be headline news to be honest. He has again been injured for most of the season and has offered little when he has played for Arsenal this year. Lennon has added end product to his game, and Wright-Phillips has shown his quality for England on several occasions, not just once as Theo has against Croatia.

So once again the Arsenal players on show at the World Cup finals will be not be wearing the three lions…
