After initially announcing that they were to pull out of the Reserve Premier League, with the intention of holding reserve team matches behind closed doors at the training ground, the club have backtracked, although matches can only be seen by fans during September, March and April at Barnet’s ground, with the rest of the fixtures being played at the training ground as originally intended.

However, we at onlinegooner understand that the pitch at Underhill has a good playing surface all year round, which makes a mockery of the decision to only stage matches there at the beginning and end of the season. As one correspondent who has asked us to publicise this decision has stated, “this action would be unfair to true supporters and the many parents who take their children to Barnet. We are not just supporters in the fine weather months!!”

Apparently, Arsenal are staging a few matches at Barnet because of the people that emailed the club when the news got out that they would not be able to see any reserve games in the future. However, now the battle is to get all home reserve fixtures held at what has become the traditional venue in recent seasons.

So if you feel strongly that reserve matches should not be played behind closed doors, email the club at [email protected] and tell them that you want to see Arsenal reserves play their home fuxtures at Barnet all season long.
