Holland v Stoke?!

Another view on last Sunday’s World Cup Final

Holland v Stoke?!

Dutch thugs? It’s all a matter of perspective

Every journalist in England appears to have jumped on the "Holland = anti-football" bandwagon. How have they not realised that the fare served up on Sunday night was comparatively lightweight when compared to Stoke, Blackburn and their ilk in the Premiership week in week out.

Did a single Spain player get stretchered from the field like our Aaron did last season? No

Did any of the Holland players (extra time winner aside) harangue the referee ala Rooney or Drogba? No

Did a single Dutchman punch their opponents like our friend Chris Morgan of Burnley? No

Did we see elbows flying Kevin Davies style? No

Despite this combative style, which is praised on a regular basis when good 'ol Big Sam employs it against us, Holland still managed to slice open the Barcelona centre back pairing on two occasions with passes that Rory Delap can only dream of.

Holland provided us with some memorable goals and played good football when they felt this was the best way to play, when their manager knew he was up against a better football team such as Spain, and to a lesser extent Brazil, he decided to play in a more appropriate manner. They had a plan B which Wenger should have and yet they can play the football, which Stoke can't.

Arsenal are subjected to this week-in week-out so why the big fuss all of a sudden?
