Where the number one position’s concerned, enough’s enough

I will cancel my Arsenal TV subscription if no new keeper arrives

Werder’s Wiese – Sign him up!

(Ed’s note – This piece was submitted before yesterday’s match with Legia Warsaw!)

The feeble attempt by Arsenal TV after last weekend’s Celtic game to suggest that there is no difference between Schwarzer and Almunia sent me over the edge. Martin Hayes and his sidekick must have been briefed by the board when they said we could save five million by not buying Schwarzer because he is no better than Almunia.

There is of course a huge difference between Schwarzer, Almunia and Fabianski - one, an Australian is a goalkeeper and the other two are not! Another pathetic reason for not buying a keeper that is being mooted by the club's appeasers is that any shot stopper coming in would not have time to bed down and familiarize himself with our defence.

Well I have thought of that one and here is my solution, buy Mertesacker and Werder Breman keeper Tim Wiese, that way the two new additions will have had experience of playing together and could if we move quick enough, start the game at Anfield. Quick enough means now, today and if it costs over 20 million so be it!

After two seasons of watching the Spanish/Polish goalkeeping axis I have now lost the will to argue over their deficiencies so I am hitting back at Arsenal in the only way I can - in their pocket. Unless Arsenal buy a top goalkeeper and a World class stopper by 31st August 2010 I am (wait for it) cancelling my Arsenal TV subscription and that will be £47.88 per year that I know will not be going towards the wages of the two poorest number twos in the Premier League. It is I know a bit like Basil Fawlty thrashing his car with a branch of a tree because it won't start but I am slowing being driven insane by the personnel responsible for running my beloved AFC who will not address this ridiculous and absurd fault line in our team.
