Amid stirring scenes this morning at Luton Airport, a jubilant Harry Redknapp and his magnificent squad were met by the Harringay Job Seekers Brass Band playing over and over joyous renditions of ‘Glory, Glory Tottenham Hotspur.’ Barely able to keep the broadest of smiles off his face, Redknapp waved enthusiastically to the massed ranks of literally several Ryanair ground crew staff as they stepped down onto the tarmac.
Later, in a lavishly prepared press conference at the Seven Sisters Sunrise B&B Hotel (DSS guests welcome), Redknapp declared ‘Naturally we’re delighted to have achieved such a victory last night.’
The Tottenham supremo, his voice suddenly taking a sterner tone, then went on to say: ‘Make no mistake. Young Boys are the fourth – if not the third – best team in Berne. For anyone to come back and score two goals from being three - nil down to such a force in European football is no mean feat. In fact, it’s probably the greatest performance ever from an English team playing abroad.’
Asked about how the rest of the world should view his team, Harry Redknapp responded ‘If ever any proof were necessary – not that there ever was you understand – that Tottenham Hotspur are a big club, it was provided last night.’
