What!!!

Not sure what has provoked such a strong show of support for a goalkeeper who has NEVER been consistent enough to help us win anything. To compare Almunia to Lukic is frankly laughable and insulting to a keeper who actually helped us lift the most significant league title in the club’s history.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion on our goalkeeping problems. My view will be shared by many, and many will disagree (clearly) and there will always be rose-tinters who only judge on the last 90 minutes they see. Let’s have it right here. Almunia was not convincing in goal v Blackburn and if not for a Cesc header off the line and several clearing headers from the defenders as once again Almunia stood and watched we would have conceded before we did.

If Almunia can rise to the challenge and help us win a pot or two this year, I will gladly hold my hands up and say well done, sorry for being so critical. But all we can judge our keeper on is the past three seasons. All of which have ended potless, leaving every Gooner I know and every pundit saying the same thing. Arsenal need a new keeper. I do hope I and the other doubters about Almunia are proved wrong, but can’t help feel otherwise. That’s just an opinion you understand…
