Naaaassriiii – They like their vowels in the Middle East

First of all apologies for not posting last week - I was in Dubai… but so much to catch up on!

10 men against Sunderland was far from ideal - but a point away from home against a strong upper mid-table team is fine with all things in perspective, even if the late goal made it seem like two points dropped. Song hasn't really started the season on top form which is a worry as he is our only recognised defensive midfielder. The Rosicky penalty miss was almost Chris Waddle-esque circa Italia 90... no wonder the Waddler, commenting on the game, failed to criticise the Czech's failure to at least hit the target.

Wilshire continues to come on in leaps and bounds. Although it is worrying how he is constantly fouled. He is a tough kid, but time will tell how such a season will take a toll on his diminutive frame. Clichy suggested that he wasn't as good as Cesc at 19. Well judging on his past few games I beg to differ Gael. Actually Gael, Gibbs is probably better than you right now, so start looking over your shoulder....

Spanking Spurs 4-1 on their own turf was fun. Nice to see Wenger taking the game more seriously, Gibbs and Lansbury (I may start to call him Henri II if he comes on in leaps and bounds) showed great promise. Watching the game with Arabic commentary was also fun - they particularly like to over pronounce names such as Nasri and Denilson - Naaaassriiii/Deneeeeeeelson. At one point I thought it was the announcer at the Arsenal stadium commentating.

Coming back on the plane I checked much to my horror that we were 3-0 down at home to the Baggies! Even before reading the commentary of the game on my phone you didn't have to be Nostradamus to know Almunia made a few howlers. Diaby had his usual poor game in four, no one believes for a second that these two were injured. Kudos to the manager for dropping them. Defensively we create far too many chances for the opposition.

Which brings me to Chelsea and our annual spanking. Hopefully with the presence of Chamakh we can make more of our possession than we did last season, however a draw would be great considering recent history. Something tells me it may be a very tough afternoon though...

Fabianski finally had a decent game for the club... now I want to see two in a row. Maybe after 15 good games we can think he is a semi capable keeper but as of now the jury is still well and truly out.

Get well soon Kyle Bartley, who fractured his jaw playing for the Blades in the Championship.
