Buffalo Bill – Is this what Wenger has become?

If you've seen 'Silence Of The Lambs' you might remember the scene where the cross dressing trickster Buffalo Bill has imprisoned a young woman he has kidnapped down a well. She is crying and begging him to let her go, but she knows he's not going to do it. Nevertheless she continues to, out of fruitless hope and sheer desperation, beg and plead knowing full well her wishes will fall on deaf ears. The hopelessness in her voice makes it quite a disturbing and upsetting scene.

I know how she feels. You only have to be an Arsenal supporter. I have been begging for a new keeper now for so long I'm actually starting to feel insane asking for one. Does Wenger seriously believe in Fabianski? What is the man on???? How long do we have to listen to this utter garbage about him being world class? It's total madness. One good game and he's the answer??

At this point, I should do the obligatory thing and confess that I think Wenger is the best boss we've ever had and I've had more joy watching Arsenal under him than any other manager. I acknowledge there have been some incredible times. But we simply aren't going to win anything with this current crop of players. Okay maybe, just maybe we might get lucky and win the FA Cup or Carling Cup, but never the Champions League or Premier League.

I said at the time after we lost to Man Utd 2-1 at Old Trafford last season that I'd have sacked Almunia and Diaby on the spot. Diaby's own goal spoke volumes about his levels of focus. To do that in such a big game with no-one near him was unforgivable. And when Almunia gave away the penalty, that too, was a shocking decision. I was watching the build up to the penalty and for a good 3 or 4 seconds was saying over and over again 'don't bring him down, don't bring him down'. But of course he did didn't he?

Diaby, Denilson, Almunia, Fabianski, Clichy, Sagna, Arshavin, Rosicky, Bendtner, Djourou and our two new centre backs are all players who in my opinion aren't up to it. Talent without hunger. Simple. They'll get us to 4th, but their hunger doesn't go beyond that. It's maddening because I love Arsenal to death but Arsene 'knows' he's got it right with this lot, he 'knows' they are going to come good. So that's it basically. It's Chelsea away on Sunday. If we win that I'll gladly take back everything I've said and re-think my views. But I really, really, really don't think that's going to happen.
