Wenger: Tunnel Vision?

Arsene Wenger needs to face up to the fact that beautiful, flowing, pretty, attractive, one touch football WILL NOT WIN YOU TROPHIES.

Every other person on earth knows this. So why oh why can our stubborn, tunnel-visioned manager not see what is staring him straight in the face? The problems at Arsenal are much deeper than most will admit to. Where to start?

Goalkeeper: This is a basic problem which has been caused solely by Arsene Wenger. It has been clear for 3-4 years since Lehmann left, that we have not had an international class goalkeeper. Aluminia and Fabianski are both out of their depth at Arsenal. Wenger should have sorted this long before the summer antics with Schwarzer/Given. You DO NOT WIN THE LEAGUE WITHOUT A WORLD CLASS KEEPER! Simple as that...

Defence: Gael Clichy has had his day at Arsenal. Cannot cross or defend. A shadow of the player we believed to be better that Cashley. He is a light year behind Cole now. Bacary Sagna is not much better. Impressed for 18 months, but has gone backwards in the last year. Our new centre halves are not convincing me leaving Vermaelen as our only solid defender.

Midfield: Arshavin, Nasri, Diaby, Rosicky, Wilshere, Fabregas. All great to watch. Not one of them would you back in a one to one with Micheal Essien or Mikel. We have too many "luxury" players. Great when you’re 6-0 up against 10 men at home, not so clever in injury time at Sunderland or Birmingham, when all you need is a midfielder to break up play and protect your defence at all costs. Sometimes Row Z is a great place for the ball.

Attack: Van Persie is a good player, but he is not going to score the goals he should simply because he gets drawn into areas of the pitch he simply should not be in. Why? Because he gets sucked into the passing merry-go-round in midfield. This is minor problem against the fact he is made of glass. Every time he takes a knock you wince knowing it could mean another six weeks out. The same must be said for Walcott. Starting to show promise but again injuries plague him. Chamakh again looks promising but he will not score more than 10-15 a season simply because he will not get enough crosses to work with as we simply do not play that way. That would go against our passing game so strictly applied by Wenger. Again this is another area where all Gooners knew we needed to strengthen in the summer, but again Wenger choose to ignore this need.

Injuries: Why do Arsenal suffer so many injuries? Wenger claims that we get targeted and roughed up by our opponents. Are you telling me this causes all our injuries? That is not the case. When Wenger arrived he helped Adams, Keown, Dixon and Winterburn extend their careers by at least two years and we had strong, battle hardened pros who never seemed to suffer major injuries. Now we have at least 2-3 first teamers out at all stages of a league season? Why? Are the players being trained too hard? Or not enough? Why has no one at Arsenal noticed this obvious problem?

These are problems that we can all see. All except Arsene Wenger. "We played a high quality game". Wenger’s quote after another defeat to Chelsea. If that is his idea of a high quality game, I would hate to see a poor quality game. Oh, I'm sorry, we did last weekend against WBA...

Chelsea are now further away from us in footballing terms than ever, and Manchester City are starting to shift the balance of power their way in Manchester. The truth is until the stadium debt is paid off or a takeover of the club is made, to allow the manager to spend BIG money, we will continue to fall behind the cash cows of the Premiership. FACT.
