Lack of leadership both on and off the pitch

Cesc: Hardly breaks into a sweat

I don't know what's to become of this Arsenal team. I think it's pretty clear that this current squad don't have the "mental strength" to win any honours now or any time in the near future. I have defended Wenger and his wish to give "his" team time and for us to be patient. Well first thing Arsene it's not your team it's ours, it was ours before you arrived here and it will still be ours after you're gone. Every team, even the big ones blow a two goal lead now and again but usually just the once. We seem to be able to do it on a regular basis now, and twice against your fiercest rivals on your own ground in three seasons is disgraceful.

Let's face it we are a soft touch, any team in the Premiership now knows that even if they're two down against us they're still in with a chance if they can get a goal back, then we will just do our usual party piece and collapse like a house of cards.

First of all I agree with quite a few of the postings on here that we really do need a defensive coach and quickly. Pat Rice is and has always been a loyal servant to Arsenal but I wonder what input or influence he has anymore? Get Keown or someone with some defensive nous back at the club and teach them how to defend before it gets any worse. I thought Johan Djourou was very unlucky to be dropped against Spurs as he has been improving very well after a good run in the team and I think he could form a good partnership with TV if we ever get him back.

One last thing and it's about our "captain". I used a small c deliberately as he is no more a captain of our club than I am. Frank McLintock & Tony Adams were Arsenal captains. If you screwed up as an Arsenal player with them as your skipper you weren't long getting an earful from FM or TA and told in no uncertain terms to get your finger out. But not Cesc, he just strolls around and hardly breaks into a sweat. It's pretty obvious he doesn't want to be here and is just an empty shirt. I think I have made the following point before but I will repeat it now, if Barcelona hadn't made such a low bid for him in the summer he could well be there already. We just don't have any leadership on the pitch and for the first time I'm thinking we don't have much leadership off it either.
