A Spurs fan writes... you are kidding right???

A response to this (which was a response to this)

A Spurs fan writes... you are kidding right???

Will there be more tears if they get their hopes up?

First of all I would like to say I am extremely concerned that this ‘response’ must have been heavily edited as I can’t believe for one second that a Spurs fan can actually write.

Secondly I would like say that I am pleased that an article from a self-confessed Spurs fan was allowed to be posted on ‘our’ website as I very much doubt that an Arsenal fan’s article would be put up on a Spurs fans’ websites. It would be worthy of a death sentence for the editor surely and if such an article was posted I can guess the response to it would read something along the lines of ‘f*** off you Gooner scum’. This simple but true fact sums up the gulf in class that exists between the two clubs and their respective supporters.

Thirdly looking back to my first point it doesn’t look like this particular Spurs fan holds the necessary skills to read either as at no point in my article did I say that Spurs fans would look like mugs if they didn’t win the league. This desperation to increase self belief is why the majority of Spurs fans have inferiority complexes in the first place. They strongly believe they are still a ‘big club’ through consistently talking up their team’s chances only to be let down.

I made the point in my article that this over hyping of the club’s ambitions nearly always ends up with them looking like mugs, I did not mention anything about winning the league in that section. If Spurs finish 5th they have had a very decent season in my opinion.

The simple fact that a Spurs fan is even reading articles on this website says it all for me, more interested in what we are doing and talking about than what their own club is trying to do and say. Were we on our way to a domestic cup semi-final when you were in the process of ‘writing’ your article by any chance???

Maybe when we are strutting our stuff at Wembley in February you could take time out to write a response to this article as well, by which time I can confidently predict Harry would have taken another couple of bungs over some dodgy January transfer dealings and spoke the word ‘Arsenal’ more frequently than either of his eyes have twitched. He is an Arsenal fan after all.

Couldn’t have been a better draw in the League Cup by the way. Keano would love to beat us - that is for sure - but the chances of his team doing so are very remote. Looks good for a Birmingham final come February to me. Hleb first goal anyone?

the standard of this article, the last article and most of the comments on each nicely captures the reason i stopped buying the gooner and visiting this site a few years ago. Pieces this bloody awful would never have been published a few years back

accepted, Arsenal is no longer as strong as we were during the invicible years, but come to think of it, Spurs have still managed to remain behind us. We'll still finish ahead of you guys in all competitions( the EPL and Carling cup alraedy). Spurs should just concentrate on finishing 4th again( which I don't think they can, considering Man city's position)

"No matter which way you look at it, the fact we are more competitive in the league is great for the North London Derby. It’s been years since it’s been worth even talking about." Couldn't agree more mate. I'm a lifelong Gooner, including all those years we played second fiddle to Tottenham. It was gut-wrenching to lose, especially in the way we did, but there is so much more to look forward to now in the contests. Spurs v Arsenal at Wembley on May 28th anyone? Great thought, though I wouldn't want to lose that one. Of course, we still need to beat Partizan Belgrade. And, also, by the way, we still have to beat Ipswich. 1978 anyone?

I do find it amusing and then sad that people generalise fans by their team rather than character. I am spurs through and through and some of my best mates are gooners, we have some great banter but that's all it is. The author here sounds like the type who would literally disown his own son if he ever wore a white and blue shirt. Truly pathetic.

Gooner through and through- Jack- "you are now in a position to win the carling cup, fielding adults in actual fact so after all this time this is all you have to show for it. Little dissappointing don't you think. Slightly embarrassing to be honest." - Post No. 165 A consistent CL qualification albeit without silverware, while on a clearly tight budget due to the move to our magnificent stadium, is slightly dissappointing yes. But its also a fantastic achievement. We gooners are ambitious. We wont settle for merely qualifying every year- the other 88 league clubs including you would kill for that level of consistency. I believe that every trophy is worth going for, Ive never be-littled the CC and was frustrated when you got to the finals and we didnt. However, I wouldnt swap that consistency in the league for a CC. Our team has gone backwards in my opinion- but fron the Invincibles team, it would be impossible not too. You have improved considerably. The element of competition in North London is welcomed. Its been missing for far too long.

John wise up mate. Don't try and claim the moral high ground. Arsenal fans read Tottenham websites and vica versa. Arsenal fans post vile abuse and so do Spurs fans. To say there is a difference in class is pathetic. Unless, of course, you are refering to the fact that most Arsenal fans are now a bunch of glory hunting mid class hooray Henrys who have only being going since the new library was built. I, and many other Tottenham fans, enjoyed the hospitality in the boxes at the recent NLD and have never witnessed so many toffs in one gathering anyway. 'Hey Nigel, I weckon we're going to give these yids a damn good hiding' was virtually the first thing I heard when I arrived. When I said 'I'm jewish do you want to start now?' you should have seen the look on their sad little faces. You support Arsenal for some reason and I support Tottenham because I was born there. The historic support of the clubs is very similar. When I first started going Tottenham were the bigger team and then with Arsenal's success in the Graham era they could claim they were bigger. The fact is they are very similar in size and stature. I believe that Tottenham are bigger because we still attract fans when we have no success. I hope to find out soon, but I doubt Arsenal would. On the field they are now pretty similar as can be seen by the League - Arsenal a bit better but have lost their last 2 games against Tottenham, Champions League this year - Tottenham have more points. If you want to believe Arsenal are bigger, better and classier - feel free. You are obviously intelligent enough to know that that is just nonsense. Just like my generalisation about all fans being hooray henrys. Anyway my Dad's bigger than yours.

You're now concentrating on winning the Carling Cup lol Says it all really, any pot will do eh? You ridiculed us when we beat Chelsea in the final, now you realise it's your only chance of silverware. Oh how aspirations change. Enjoy your egg cup, we'll carry on beating the european champions. You may even join us in the final stages of the champions league soon. Ha-ha, ha-ha-ha, ha-ha-ha-ha haaaaaa! Just so funny. Oh yeah, 3-2 :-)

Sad Spuds last won a Title in the black and white days of 1961...thats 49 years ago. In fact they have only won it twice in their entire history and will never win it again so chill out Gooners we got bigger fish to fry.

Rubbish....I have seen sane reasonable comments by gooners on THFC websites without flak but there is always someone on each site who will put his hands in the effluent and throw it. My problem is that I have been following my club since the 50s and I well know that dominance in football is short lived and not a god given right and many gooners should look at tables from that period on as you were not much until Wenger came along. Certainly you won a bit but the cost to football was horrific. You lot should erect a statue to Saint Arsene and pray by it as he taught you how to play our way and unfortunately for us, more successfully. The real heart of North London discontent is the gooner vagrancy move and the cheating between 1919 and the 30s but you lot never seem to remember it and that is why we smirk when you preach to us about your club. You have won more(outside Europe_) but at what cost? However, the way that we are playing now makes certain that our matches will be exciting and that is good for both of us but I would publicly hang any gooner who rails against Wenger as he has done so much for you and not all of you realsie it.

I can't believe this article actually tries to throw the fact that arsenal will be at Wembley in the CARLING CUP final. We won the cup then failed to retain it back at wembley the following year whilst you kept being dumped out due to your daycare programme which Wenger has been raving about for the past 5 years without any success. Enjoy your day out, i'm not one of those spurs fans who think the league is a possiblity, certainly not for a good few years but the fact that an Arsenal fan would try to rub that in our faces after slating us for it, surely says more about your aspirations than our own. We enjoyed the carling cup victory as we are as you rightly say, not as big as we think, especially since the formation of the premiership but Arsenal have always been in and around the top 3. Every year you fail to win something, Wenger blames his kids... you are now in a position to win the carling cup, fielding adults in actual fact so after all this time this is all you have to show for it. Little dissappointing don't you think. Slightly embarrassing to be honest.

i,ve never disrespected the carling cup and was gutted when we lost in the semi to spurs i believe that the mentality needed is that we go into every game believing it is the most important game we have ever played don,t like this job done complacent attitude i,m old enough to remember 78 and a 3-0 semi win v 2nd division orient where we only had to turn up to win the final v ipswich. if we go into the semi in that frame of mind we are in for a rude awakening bragging rights earn you the right not to have to brag and talks of days out at wembley are premature. of coarse we should go in fearing nobody but with the all important caveat that we treat all games with the utmost respect. that said getting stick from spurs fans who list pre season tournaments on there honours list is a bit strong i want to win everything that we enter but the emirates cup, amsterdam tourny mercantile credit and makita trophys have long since been confined to the memory loft

"I can’t believe for one second that a Spurs fan can actually write" Well, that puts paid to the notion of a gulf in class. As always, we are all different people, trying to pigeonhole people solely by the team they support doesn't seem particularly fair to be honest. As for this quote: "The simple fact that a Spurs fan is even reading articles on this website says it all for me, more interested in what we are doing and talking about than what their own club is trying to do and say", did it not occur to you, that the original article was written with respect to Tottenham, and only Tottenham. Now, pot, kettle, black?

Generalise much??? No matter which way you look at it, the fact we are more competitive in the league is great for the North London Derby. It’s been years since it’s been worth even talking about... and ‘St Tottering(?)’ day seems to come latter and latter during the season recently. Long may it continue.

You should check out Harry Hotspur & Dear Mr Levy. Frequented by a hell of a lot by Gooners responding to articles dredged up on Newsnow. Typical lack of humour from Arsenal fans that obviously do not appreciate an English sense of humour. Maybe it's Arsene's influence? Maybe if he wasn't tickling a bit of French fancy on the side he would pay more attention to his teams inadequacies?

There are two types of supporters in the world, those who live in the real world and those who don't, and this is true of all clubs. The mere tone of your "article" clearly shows which one you live in.

"The simple fact that a Spurs fan is even reading articles on this website says it all for me, more interested in what we are doing and talking about than what their own club is trying to do and say." Eh, you do realise you wrote an article about Spurs chances in the league, right Alanis? In fact, you've done it twice now. I know everyone is talking about Spurs these days, but shouldn't you be worrying about getting out of your CL group more than what we may do?

Wow, covered all your bases there didn't you with the 'simple fact a Spurs fan is even reading this' bit didn't you? It would appear that your're getting a bit obsessed with Spurs with blogs like this. And by the way the gulf in class of supporters? Your headline picture is of a child crying. Nice. Enjoy your cup success :)

Right you now have a cultured Spurs fab who use to go and watch Spurs one saturday and then arsenal the next. I am a true Spurs fan but one of my favourite sides was the arsenal double winners of 1971. Radford was one of my heroes. Now to this season. We have upset everyone because of our never say die attitude. We beat you 3-2 with this new spirit and would not have done this a few seasons ago. I know Spurs very well and of course we have been a major laughing stock for years. This year is an exception and we will surprise Arsenal and everyone else. I will not predict but at the end of the season we will do better than you think. Thank you for allowing me my 5 minutes

"as I can’t believe for one second that a Spurs fan can actually write." What a very mature opening line. The article reads as if it had been written by a 10 year old. The only reason you get spurs traffic to your site is it is posted on Newsnow/Tottenham, the fact that you continue to talk about us is a sign of how worried you really are. Let’s hope some of you 'kids' are back for your CL decider, now that would be an embarrassing elimination, if you want to know how to qualify in style check out group A.

Having read this article as it popped up in my NewsNow feed, I have to say not onlydo you completely contradict yourself but you also come across as someone who clearly doesn't understand football. You talk of a lack of class and a gulf between the 2 teams and yes over the years you have certainly been ahead of us. But to think that is still the case you are clearly kidding yourself. Your article mentions a lack of class in spurs fans and whilst im sure there are a few without class this article is completely lacking in any form of intelligence. I do however find it funny that you talk of such a gulf betwen the two yet you as a club are so excited by the prospect of winning the Carling cup which I don't believe is a bad thing, my view is silverware is silverware no matter what the competition. Its just the mocking that use to come from your fans suggest that you now have lost some belief deep down and don't feel you are the side you once were.

well after the abuse three years and two years ago about how the spurs fans were a sad bunch for being so excited at being in a carling cup final it is slight amusing, and not at all surprising, to see the growing excitement among arsenal fans at the prospect of a trip to wembley and the chance to win something, even if only the, what did you all call it three years ago?, mickey mouse cup?
