It was a one off, definitely

Newcastle... Never Again! (and here is why)

Djourou – Would not have happened if he’d stayed fit

I have come up with the reasons why this game turned into the stuff of legend, (whether we like it or not it has.) I will start with those we had no control over.

1. Djourou injury
Johan has been superb every time he has played this season, turning Koscielny into a decent centre half to boot. He has the physical presence we had been lacking and has been (along with Szczesny) why we have looked more solid at the back recently. We missed him badly in the second half!!

2. Dowd 1
What Matty Nolan did to Szczesny was identical to Diaby’s stupidity and thus should have resulted in the same outcome. Nuff said. Did anyone get booked for not trying to get the ball out of the back of the net on the other seven goals? Timewasting, anyone, explain!!

3. Dowd / lino 2
Even Shearer said it wasn’t a pen!!! I know their goal was onside, but two wrongs don’t make a right(!) And the timing was perfect for them. The storm had been weathered.

4. 25 yard wrong foot thunderbolt
Always the danger in a close game, and sadly, utterly predictable in this case.

Now, more worryingly, how we became the architects of our own downfall.

1. Diaby
Sorry Abou, you lost us the game. For those not there, Joey set him up with a far worse foul on half time, and even got a free kick out of it!! But you got mugged mate. 4 0, just walk away. Simples.

2. Pass selection
We had a scoring break immediately before their first goal. Theo made the wrong choice and shot (!!!!!!!) so don’t get on his back. Great block, hoof upfield, corner, penalty, game on.

3. Poor choice and timing of substitutions
Arsene, this is where you should be making your wage. It’s not rocket science. We are getting battered by this time. The ball is going to (barely) half way and coming straight back. Good call, sub the Russian 5 ft 4 and bring on... Rosicky, 5ft 4. We have Bendtner (love him or hate him) who has done a great job in that position over the last two seasons, or Chamakh, (Morrocco is not anywhere near Iraq but I love that song!) No, let it get worse and worse. Now, when we are all thinking, “F*** me, I can’t believe it” (although actually I can) that we need a fifth to hold a four goal lead, he subs the player most likely to exploit an overstretched, over committing team for... Eboue! Who gets booked before actually touching the ball. No wonder people laugh at the Arsenal. We really give them the ammunition.

4. Total lack of leadership and composure
Really don’t want to dwell on this. Cesc has done the biz as far as I’m concerned. F*** me the bloke scored a goal with a broken leg last year. He’s still here and if anyone questions his commitment, I will see you outside. Make the most of it because if/when he does go you will fully appreciate what you are missing... when it’s gone.

In hindsight this was the most amazing game of football I have ever seen. Obviously, as it unravelled in front of me I was slightly less objective!! Give the Geordies some credit, they smacked us in the second half, Szczesny made three great saves and we could have easily lost.

In the cold light of day, United and Chelsea turned that into a good result. The worst calamity ever to hit the Premiership and we are better off. Four nil at half time… we still got a point… BELIEVE.

Well find out the answer tomorrow but it is possible that the experience could make the team mentally stronger. It will not happen again!

Don't think it was! (a one off) it's the roller coaster ride with this team. Enjoy. Fabregas, great player not a great captain, just like Thierry. No problem but it takes a different type of personality to lead and motivate this team in times of crisis - and there will be plenty of those in the coming months. I don't understand the substitutions either - if you are down to 10 men you leave somebody up front to keep their defense occupied - speed frightens defenders and we have the fastest forward on the planet in Theo. Wenger takes him off and the barcodes charge forward. Explain.

After calming down, I watched the game again. Maybe it's knowing what was to come, but in the first half, every time Newcastle did attack, it looked like they could score. Put bluntly, our defence is simply not good enough. I've always supported Wenger but they way he sticks by certain players is criminal. Squillaci is just the latest of a bad bunch. Hope I'm wrong but I can see us getting turned over by Birmingham in the coming weeks. Still, I'm trying to believe...

I hope joey Barton breaks his legs. We're talking about player here who should be serving a prison sentence instead of playing in the premier league. He always puts in bad tackles and then acts like the innocent one when players confront him, smart lad.

Losing a 4-0 lead may not happen again, but let's not pretend we haven't tossed away similar comfortable leads.(4-2 up and romping against Sp*rs going into injury time, for example. 2-0 up and ole's being heard also against Spurs this season, etc, etc. It goes back years.) That's what hurts most: it was no surprise. As soon as Diaby saw red, it was coming. Why? Because we've thrown these leads away before. Opponents can smell our collective fear. Cnuts like Pardew/Barton know they can unsettle us. Mostly we hang on, but how many games do you spend praying for the clock to tick down? The board goes up & you pray for 2 or 3 mins. In games we should have wrapped up by half time but somehow contrive to let the opposition back in (often with the ref's help.) My nerves can't take it any more. Desperately & needlessly hanging onto matches we were once 'comfortably in control of' will happen again. I pray I'm wrong. Keep the faith!

good chamakh song but why not sing 'he comes from near Rabat' as that is actually in morocco (capital) and still rhymes!

I know we got a point but the damage psychologically is the worst part of it. We have given away many leads in the past and the players have been proved to be mentally weak. Also, we just don't play well enough when we haven't got the ball whether it's closing down, pressing, tackling or defending set pieces, we are totally inadequate.

Wenger has been getting substitutions wrong for the last 10 years. The number of times we have been leading in a match when the substitution that is made hands the initiative more firmly to the opposition. He consistently removes our biggest threat and puts on a defender. Last Saturday was Eboue for Walcott. Does he keep getting the same advice ? Pat Rice ? Otherwise why does the penny not drop ?

Before saturday no one would have said we would throw away a four goal lead in 20 mins but we did.Never say never, not with this team of bottlers anyway. In fact without Szczesny making 3 great saves we would have lost!!!!

Who's Matty Nolan? Not getting the ball out of the net? Your was blatently time wasting. When Blackburn scored at Wigan on saturday two Wigan players were pushed out of the way by Blackburn players hurrying to get the ball out of the net, the referee took no action because the Wigan players stayed on their feet, unlike the Arsenal Keeper who must be 6ft2" - 6ft 3" and at least 13 stone. Two wrongs don't make a right? You cannot just dismiss that Newcastle had a perfectly good goal ruled out. Stop crying like a baby.................you sound like Wenger

    4. Total lack of leadership and composure What utter b0ll0cks. Having taken it in the backdoors from Dowd for 45 mins, the two senior players Cesc & RVP went up the other end and scored a perfectly good 5th to win us the game in the 93rd minute. Had that correctly been allowed, we'd all now be talking about Arsenal's resilience & fight to win it in spite of the ref & down to 10 men. Ignore the MOTD yellow line, RVP is clearly level. We were absolutely shafted in that game, without Dowd Newcastle would have got nowhere near us.
