On Sunday 27th March 2011, at Metropolitan Police Bushey Sports Club (Aldenham Road, Bushey, Herts WD23 2TR) one lucky person will get the chance to play for Arsenal! The day will start at 11am with a children’s six-a-side and climax with the main match at 3pm.The event is the Arsenal Ex-Professional & Celebrity Xl Team against the Hertfordshire Postnatal Illness Support Charity Select Xl. The money that is raised will go to Hertfordshire Postnatal Illness Support, the Arsenal Charitable Trust and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Famous names in the Arsenal squad are ex-Arsenal stars like Perry Groves, Chris Whyte, John Matthews, Ian Selley, David Hillier and Ian Allinson. From the world of entertainment there is Phil Daniels (Eastenders), Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet), Ralf Little (Royal Family), Robbie Gee (Prime Suspect), Giles Anderson (The Damned United) and Tommy Walsh (Groundforce). Amongst those from the world of sport are Mark Ramprakash (International Cricketer and Strictly Come Dancing winner) and Terry Marsh (World Champion Boxer).
The day will include a penalty shootout competition, bouncy castles, climbing wall, giant slide, gladiator ring plus a host of children’s entertainers like Top Golf, Fun Scientists, Living The Dream Street Dance with Alleviate, finalists on Sky 1 “Got to Dance”, Hertsmere Play Rangers plus lots of exciting stalls and eateries!
Entry to the event will be by programme only, for details please visit www.postnatalillness.co.uk. The cost of entry per Adult is £3 in advance or £4 on the day. Free entry for children under 14 years when accompanied by an adult.
The minimum auction bid for a place with the Arsenal team is £100. The highest bidder will get to pull on the famous shirt, warm up with the team, be included in all team photos and get to play the first quarter of the game in the Arsenal team, with a place in the Hertfordshire Postnatal Illness Support team for the remainder of the match. They will also be invited to the VIP buffet after the game with their family!
Bidding begins at 12 noon on Monday 21st February and closes on Saturday 12th March at 6pm. All bids must be emailed to [email protected]. Everyone who places a bid will receive a fresh email every time a new higher bid is received. When the bidding has closed, the winner will be informed and be asked to pay the amount of their bid in advance. They will also receive complementary passes to the game for family and friends.
