Kiss me (title hopes goodbye) quick?

Blackpool: Scene of this weekend’s selections

Well it was mixed emotions at Samvo last week with the England game providing a cheer and £6 profit before a very muted Arsenal performance against a stubborn Blackburn saw us net another £40 profit, but maybe we would have preferred £20 profit, an Arsenal win and the £s into Betfair. Still from the two bets it was about £46 from that which means our float now stands at around £275.

On Sunday Arsenal travel away to Blackpool and by contrast to last week we don’t expect this one to be ending 0-0. To profit from the match no matter what we are going for a slight variation to the theme this week at the little known European bookmaker Betclic. Click here, register, and deposit £20. If your first bet loses you will get the £20 back again!

Blackpool lost 6-0 when they visited us but at Bloomfield Rd this weekend they will be playing for survival. With 7 games to go they are just one point off the relegation zone and will be going for a win not a draw. They do know how to cause an upset at home and have the "scalps" of both Liverpool and Spurs to prove it. If Arsenal fail to take three points from the game then realistically their title hopes gone with it. For these two reasons I will be hedging the bets towards a Blackpool win to compensate me for that disappointment.

At Betclic the odds on Blackpool winning are 8 (or 7/1 old money). You can deposit by any method but Moneybookers would probably be the best. (Ed’s note, when I attempted to transfer £20 from Moneybookers, I first had to go into my browser preferences to allow pop-ups, so if you are making no progress on this, check your preferences to make sure pop-ups are allowed, you can always change it back afterwards. Additionally, if odds are not shown in decimal format, these can be changed to decimal though ‘my account’ at the top of the screen, and on the first page ‘my options’, select ‘European (3.5) as ‘your preferred format’)

To find the match on the left column there is "Football" then "Eng Premier League", click on that, scroll down and the Blackpool vs Arsenal match odds are near the bottom. Click on the "8" next to Blackpool and a new betslip pop up appears top right of the page. Enter a stake of £20 and submit the bet. Now if Blackpool win on Sunday the balance at Betclic will be £160 which is £140 profit. Just withdraw that and it is job done, we will join somewhere else next week. If it is an Arsenal win or just a draw we will get the £20 back at Betclic, do not withdraw it as we will be using it to bet again with next week.

Because the mantra of this diary is to never actually lose no matter what I will lay Blackpool to win at Betfair, the current lay odds are at 8.8 (use the pink button) (Ed’s note – 9 when I laid the bet, but the difference is marginal, so do not worry too much about the difference, the principle of the scheme still holds) laying £13 has a £101.40 liability. We will do a similar back and lay next week if the first bet loses but for now:

Blackpool win = +£140 at Betclick and -£101.40 at Betfair = +£38.6 and move on

Blackpool don’t win = -£20 at Betclick and +£13 at Betfair = -£7 "BUT" we get the £20 back and will do the same again, it is not over yet.

I am pretty sure this is the bet I am most comfortable with, as no matter what on Sunday evening I will be pleased. Either we are still in with a shot of the title, or my bets just made £40. For anyone who is reading this diary for the first time and would like to see how it all began see here and to catch up or join in see here.
