We should all now have our free bet of £50 at BetFred. For anyone that opted to deposit through Moneybookers I hope there weren’t any issues and that the free bet was rewarded OK.

Despite finding an arb for the Stoke game I remained evens from the qualifying bet as I backed and laid the Arsenal win at half time with £50 - so a loss of £50 at Betfred but a gain of £50 at Betfair. I noticed the odds did fluctuate a little after I placed my bet but hopefully nobody is more than £3-5 down at this point. Anyway our free £50 bet gives us a real opportunity to secure a decent profit this week. I’ve gone through the archives and everyone should have a running total of around the £285 - £295 mark. This will vary slightly depending on when you joined and if you’ve been given the free £10 from depositing at Moneybookers.

So at BetFred go to “Football - Premier League Matches” and open up the “more bets” for the “Arsenal v Aston Villa” game. From comparing the odds at both BetFred and Betfair the draw looks as if it can make us a sound and pretty tidy profit so at Betfred click on the “Draw” which had odds of “5.00” as I placed the bet (remember to change the odds to decimal on the left hand side of the screen by scrolling down). When the bet slip opens be sure to tick “Place using free balance” and then stake the full £50.

At Betfair it’s the same old process - “Football”, “English Football”, and then “Barclays Premier League”. Then click “Fixtures 15 May” to get the “Arsenal v Aston Villa” game. Here I’m going to click the pink lay button for the draw and stake £30. When I placed the lay it had odds of “5.4” (Ed’s note, drifted to 5.5 when I laid it, but stuck with the £30, only £3 difference in liability) so it left me with the following outcomes...

- It’s a draw: +£68 (+200 at BetFred, -132 at Betfair)

- Any other result: +£30 (-50 FREE BET at BetFred, +30 at Betfair)

Over the last couple of weeks our gambling pot has become pretty stagnant. I’ve gone for it with two or three bets and whilst they had the opportunity to come in big they just haven’t quite ended in the right result. This time round though it’s a good profit no matter what. A guaranteed £68 or £30 really isn’t bad at all and will see us surpassing the £300 mark for the scheme. My original aim was to make £1000 in one year and with £300 after 14 weeks I’d say we were very much on track. (Ed’s note – and this is for about 15 minutes of your time a week) If we can get a little luck along the way and bearing in mind that as our pot grows we will be able make use of larger bets I can certainly see it happening.
