Legends in their own drinking up time the Riders of the Night are playing a gig this Sunday to mark the end of the season. At least those that get along can finish 2010-11 on a high.
It’s at the Herbert Chapman pub on the Holloway Road, Sunday 22nd May. It’s £5 on the door and the Riders will be on stage at 8.15. Support is UK Vomit.
What follows is the text of an email received from Monkey of the band updating us about other Riders’ activities so far this year…
“Thought I'd drop you a line and let you know what's been going on here at The Riders' HQ.
Well the gig at The Silver Spoon, Wembley before the Mickey Mouse Cup Final was rammed and a great day was being had by all until our team managed to f*** it all up for us later.
The "Rocky Remembered" gig at The Rocket in April was brilliant. Banged out again and the generosity of everyone there was immense. I think something like £8,500 was raised for Great Ormond St and The Willow Foundation. Kenny Sansom and Perry Groves did the auction and even Jonathon Creek showed up to lend his support. Needless to say none of our current players could be arsed.
AND (drumroll)... It's finally out! The new CD from The Riders of the Night "Kerb Crawler" has finally hit the streets. Check out the preview on You Tube.
It can be bought online here and for more details about the Riders, you can always check out our myspace page”
Plug over! For those that can make it to the gig on Sunday, I will guarantee you will have a good time, with chanting like the old days. The singing of ‘Paddy’ before the band launch into their next number is something that has to be experienced at least once in any Gooner’s life.
