Arsenal’s Got Talent

Hunt for the 'New Eboue' Competition

Arsenal’s Got Talent

Clichy: Does he go through?

Senderos was hailed as the 'New Adams';
Clichy has had a five year honeymoon period to become the 'New Cashley';
Diaby (bless him) is still being called the 'New Vieira' by the AKBs;
and Vela was touted by Our Glorious Leader as the 'Mexican Robbie Fowler'.

Why don't the club just hold an 'Arsenal's Got (a lack of) Talent' competition during the long, barren summer transfer window and we could watch the auditions live on Arsenal TV with Tom Watt as the compère.

Just picture it; a long, hot summer evening and it's the 'dancing Eboues' all bumping into each other and falling over; then the next night, it's the 'juggling Eboues' or the 'yodelling Eboues'. The club could set up a premium phone-line and we could all vote from home for our favourite 'New Eboue' who then signs a 5 year contract at £50k per week.

It may pose a problem if AW takes on the 'Simon Cowell' role as a judge because the other judges wouldn't be allowed to voice an opinion or vote but, hey ho, that's a democracy for you.

When the January transfer window is here, we could all vote for the 'New Denilson' or the 'New Rosicky' but I wouldn't bother with a 'New Almunia' audition as I honestly don't think you'll get another one. Should I have put this idea into the public domain? Will the club nick it? It works on every level; the hard of thinking will gratefully get fleeced by the club voting for a useless f-wit, the fans can't complain about lack of signings because we, the great unwashed, get to vote for them and the club gets hundreds of hours of broadcasting for Arsenal TV!

Everybody wins..........as normal.

    Can we have some twisted rule where finishing runner up or below makes you the actual winner,as it would not be possible to get past any winning post, regardless of votes for.

    Augustus (post 8114) - for the same reason that they print your comment I suspect because you're a fan and the idea of the site (which you obviously haven't grasped) is to give all fans a platform to air their views. I think this is a good light hearted read and can't understand why people would moan about it. Takes all sorts though I suppose.

    It is printed because it doesn't take itself too seriously, and there's far too much of that going on here already. The club, manager, most of the team, and seemingly most of the fans have gone a bit bonkers at the moment so articles such as these are rather fitting right now...

    We could say something like this: the important thing is not to win but to participate(CL).

    ...and it might prove less frustrating and more rewarding than the actual football...
