For those whose heads it sailed over first time around…

Get behind the team AND manager!

Diaby: Inter for £35m?

Following the clamorous responses from the first article I submitted to the Online Gooner, I would just like to supplement some of my earlier points, which I feel have been justified in light of the recent Champions League final.

Arsene Wenger is a Genius.

I was watching Barca play in the final and I can honestly tell you that they are not a better footballing side than Arsenal, and had it been Arsenal in that final then I feel we would have stood a much better chance than Manchester United. The result in the final has for me, merely confirmed that Arsenal are technically, and morally, the best team in Europe.

It doesn’t take rocket science to deduce this, just simple logic: Arsenal beat Barca and Man United this season. Wenger confirmed as much the other day, and therefore we must be considered the best team in Europe. How many other sides can claim to have beaten Man United at home this season then? No other manager could manage a league defeat of Man United in the whole of the English Premier League. Do any of these know-nothing ‘fans’ who criticize Arsene expect someone like Mick McCarthy, the sacked Ancelotti or Kenny Dalglish could manage to beat Man United at home isn’t it? And we beat Barca! Only Hercules and Real Betis can claim to be on a level with us and share that honour. Yes that is correct, we completely embarrassed Barca at home in the Champions League. I don’t understand these morons that continue to mention that it was actually a two-legged tie and that therefore in real terms, Arsenal won only half a match?

Arsene is the master of the half measure and over half a season, we have been the best team in Europe for the past four years. No one can compete with us. And people are forgetting that in the Nou Camp, had it not been for a poor touch from Bendtner and for RVP getting sent off, we would have eliminated Barca. Just as, had Leroy Lita had a better touch on ninety two different occasions, Reading FC would have won the Premier League a few seasons ago. Arsenal had Barca on the ropes, and pulled the game back to 1-1 with a sumptuous goal, indicative of our ‘Wengerball’ football. We attacked with purpose and intent, and peppered the Bara goal with shot after shot.

Arsene also correctly reminded us that when you observe the mini-league of the top 4 teams, then Arsenal are top. Too right Arsene. This is the most important honour to bestow upon this glorious, best ever Arsenal squad. The fact that Arsenal are bottom of the mini-league of Arsenal, West Brom, Bolton and Newcastle is irrelevant.

I keep hearing people claim that when Guardiola leaves Barca at the end of next season, that he should be Arsene’s replacement? For me Guardiola has proven nothing as a manager, and the fact that in three years he has won more than Wenger has in his entire career is down to the fact he has an amazing team. Even Phil Brown would have won all those titles with that team, it’s just a case of turning up and winning two out of the last three Champions Leagues.

The real skill for me, is having the breathtaking skill and moral superiority to assemble a group of young players like Diaby, Denilson, Eboue and Song, pay them wages of over £50k a week, and then nurture them into the best fourth placed team in Europe. Guardiola at the moment does not have to manage a dressing room full of big personalities and egos, he is managing small-time players who hardly win anything between them.

Wenger on the other hand, is working in a cruel pressure-cooker environment with a demanding board, and an even more demanding fan-base who accept nothing but trophies. Would Guardiola be able to cope with the pressure of delivering at a club like Arsenal? How would he be able to resist the impending £35 million Inter Milan bid for Diaby?

I will say it again and again, I am sick of the Wenger-bashing. People need to remember that he has put Arsenal in such a fantastic financial position that, once the financial fair play rules come into effect, Arsenal will be primed to destroy the competition. Think about it: Chelsea will suffer under the new UEFA directive and will be forced to play their matches behind closed doors in Siberia. Man Citeh will also implode and once the Middle East runs out of oil reserves, and the Glazers are finally taken into custody for Financial mismanagement, Arsenal will have no equals.

In terms of the transfer market, I continue to hear unrealistic demands made of our dear Leader. ‘Sign this’, ‘Sign that’. Do these know-nothings not realise that it makes sense for Man Citeh, Chelsea, and Real Madrid to finish their spending first, before Arsene makes his move in the market? If he does not do this, then these clubs will sign every single player under the sun, just out of fear that Arsene might beat them to it. Arsene’s shrewd movement in the transfer market has enabled him to bag the cream of French football. Had Mourinho, Ancelotti or Mancini known about Arsene’s intentions, then the likes of Squillaci, Chamakh and Koscielny would have now been playing for Real Madrid and Chelsea. Instead, Real Madrid ended up with poor French players like Benzema instead.

In my last article, I wrote a comparative example of some of the fine players Arsene has signed in the transfer market recently, citing the examples of Koscielny, Squillaci and Silvestre, and compared them with some of the lesser players at City like Kompany, and at Man United like Evra and Vidic. I was rightly castigated by certain fellow Arsene-lovers, who pointed out the error of my ways, by making reference to players like Henry, Vieira, Pires and Ljungberg. Of course, like Vidic, Ivanovic, Evra and Kompany; Henry and Pires still all actively play for Arsenal. And on that point, I must apologise.

Those questioning Arsene need some perspective please. How many of these people have managed even half a day in football then? Right ok. How dare they criticize Arsene when none of them have ever managed a football club? It reminds me of all those people who had the audacity to criticize George W Bush when he was US President. How many of these people had ever run the world’s biggest superpower? How many of these people have ever launched a full-scale land invasion of a rogue state, and organized a State of the Union address? Therefore how dare any of these fools ever criticize G W Bush? Until they have worked half a day in government, then they have no place or right to criticize single thing, full stop.

Another well laboured point by my fellow Arsene-loving brethrin, is our disgraceful home support. They are at fault for the dropped points we suffered this season, and if only our home supporters, with their demands for victory and quality football could stop being so demanding, then we would be champions. Look at our away performances at Stoke, at Bolton, at Old Trafford, at Spurs and at Newcastle this season. If we played all our matches away from home, we would be champions by a distance. Quality performances at home are entirely down to our outrageous fans, who dared to boo the team for failing to beat 10-man Blackburn with the worst away record in the Premier League, and for booing Arsenal for failing to beat 1 point in 27 Sunderland at home. Had the noise been much louder, Arsenal would have decimated the opposition. For instance, a recent study proved that Stoke have the loudest home fans in the league. It is because of this loud home support, that Stoke will be Premier League champions next season – Arsenal’s woes have to do with the home support, not with a lack of investment, a lack of heart and courage form the players and a lack of tactical insight.

People need to remember how Arsene Wenger changed Arsenal forever as we know it. He built the Emirates with his OWN two hands! I went to the Ashburton construction site and witnessed it with my very own eyes, Arsene was sat there hard hat on, bricks, mortar and cement all in hand and the most outstanding mental strength to build the stadium from the top down. To all those who are asking for Arsene’s head, be careful what you wish for. No more Arsene means bye bye Diaby, Eboue, Rosicky, Almunia, Fabianski, Squillaci, Chamakh and Song.

Arsene has already begun to address our shortcomings with the signings of both the Barca 16 year olds. The summer is looking promising already and I believe that the two teenagers from Barca will be excellent acquisitions for the club, and will be able to one day follow in the footsteps of Cesc Fabregas, by going to the Spanish GP in Barcelona (and posting pics on Twitter) whilst their team-mates blaze a trail against a team like Fulham.

Unlike American-owned clubs like Liverpool and ManUSA, our board are custodians of the club. We are English-owned and the board members would never ever sell out to an unknown American quantity. Peter Hill-Wood is far too classy for that, and upholds the traditions of our great club. I am proud to have him as a representative of our club.

The final point I want to make however, is that I recently had the fortune to be pointed in the direction of another Arsenal blog. Now. The main writer of this blog struck me as being an erstwhile, erudite and deeply intelligent individual, who was more than secure in his own ability. I know this, because far from constructing an intelligent argument all by himself, the writer of this blog used the uniquely intellectual standpoint of actually attacking a different Arsenal blog! In case you were interested in knowing which blog I am talking about, it is called ‘Another Arsenal Bog’ (sic?).

The clearly non-adolescent writer of said blog, was apoplectic with rage and railed against disgraceful Arsenal blogs such as the Online Gooner. His premise, seemed to be that using the term ‘AKB’ is some kind of misnomer, and he is right: of course, there is no such thing as the brainwashed Wengerite. There is no such thing, as the dedicated Wenger fan who will casually inform you that should Wenger depart, the club will be set back 28 years. There is no such thing, as the Wengerite loyalist, who will tell anybody with a contrarian opinion to ‘p**s off and go support Spuds’ – the highest intellectual form of rebuttal there by the way. I also especially respect the manner in which the so-called AKBs, can take the moral high ground because, whilst a bunch of dimwits use the term ‘AKB’, these so-called ‘AKBs’ would of course, never use apposite terms such as ‘Doomer’.

And I agree with the likes of ‘Another Arsenal Bog’. I find it absolutely DISGRACEFUL that sites like the Online Gooner are permitted to spew the kind of poisonous, malicious bile they do. I find it sickening that the increasing democratization of the internet, means that the likes of the Online Gooner are given the platform to offer alternative, independent opinions that do not conform to the standardized party line. I find it an outrage that the Online Gooner has a relatively large following, many of whom happen to have independent opinions of their own. How dare they?

Epic article. Very funny stuff but the funniest thing is some AKB's not realising the sarcasm and agreeing with your points lmao. Chengdu Province here we come!! Anyway, for starters we should stop worrying about our defence because Wenger just signed a lad who played 9 times at the back for Charlton Athletic, yes THE Charlton Athletic, so problem solved. Oh and for the benefit of some of the AKB's, that was also sarcasm so no comments agreeing with me about what a good signing he is please.

I agree with most of your points but equating Arsene Wenger to George Bush is ludicrous. George Bush destroyed the economy of USA by his war policies. Wenger is no Bush & Arsene Wenger deserves all the criticism he's getting now. Wenger basically controls Arsenal & yet he didn't buy enough players to overcome our shortcomings in defense. Buying players like Squillaci sent us 2 years backwards. Trusting Almunia is like trusting Mr. Bean, a cock-up is waiting to happen. Denilson & Diaby play for the opposing teams with their own goals & possession tactics. Wenger should have realized all this last year and corrected his mistakes. We could have bought good players in the Jan transfer window. But no, Wenger stuck to his team & here we stand with 6 trophyless seasons, an exodus of players waiting to happen & a nervy Champions League qualifier. Gooners have the right to criticize Wenger, for what is he being paid 5 Million a year but yes sacking Wenger is a big NO. I hope Wenger corrects his mistakes & we win a trophy this season. Its going to be an interesting summer. P.S : "Chicarito" Hernandez is one hell of a player!

Whether the manager should stay in his post or not is creating much bile between supporters. The arguments are beginning to resemble those between an athiest and a cardinal about the existence of a deity, i.e. unwinnable. You either have faith in Wenger or you don't. Those of us who believe in evidence, rather than faith, look to the 68 points we made this season, which in most years would not get us a trip to Braga in the UEFA. It's just a matter of time and there is no point getting steamed over it as so many contributors do. The team has realised that he hasn't a clue what to do next, and hopefully the faithless will not be kept in misery for much longer. It's all very sad, because none of us who now want him out, ever originally felt anything but affection for him.

Brilliant Satire! And very well observed. Remarkable how few posters read past the first paragraph. The term 'closed minds' springs to mine. People seem to forget when complaining about the extra 6.5% that Arsenal TV - the only place to 'listen' to Arsenal games live - is now absolutely free to Season Ticket Holders. How many other clubs can boast that? Sky Sports, 2 or 3 live matches every day - highway robbery! Then there's Members' Day - a free Training session, lots of passing practice, just like the ones we watched we watched at so many home games last season.

I can't work out whether this is sarcasm.. 'Guardiola is managing small time players that hardly win anything between them'??? These 'small time' players have won everything there is to be won over the last 5 years, and then won it again, and then again. And there is much more pressure on the manager to win at Barca than at Arsenal. Guardiola would be sacked if he won nothing for 2 years, let alone 6.

Some really good points in this article. Mourinho is definately over-rated, NO 4th place CL qualification trophy to his name, Same goes for Pep. Also agree that the fans should just pay the 6.5% increase to watch the fantastic football on show at the emirates. The atmosphere is immense! Those 'Silly fans' dont appreciate nothing!

Message to fans thinking of posting. READ the article in full first. DON'T take it too seriously! It is being sarcastic and many of us find it a bit of light relief at a time when we have had to pay over £1000 to retain the right to watch the power and the passion of the likes of Rosicky, denilson, diaby, bendtner, clichy etc etc

Another deluded AKB happyily taking part in a real life Empreors Clothes storyline. You lost me at Barca aren't better Arsenal. Everyone on here is behind the club but some think that going backwards for 7 years is probaly enough. Even Cesc and Nasri don't believe in the wenger project and want away. How much more proof do you want?

Enjoyed the irony the first time round because it all rang so true. This time i found it all ait unecessary, repetitive and also depressing with rumours of Nasri on the move even going to United, well what can you say, Arsene has scewed up and doesn't have the confidence of players who he nurtured and stuck by. This is the end result of a failed policy.

  23. Nick

    Jun 05, 2011, 20:44 #8290

This is really unhelpful. Patronising Arsenal fans who don't share the same views as you isn't going to win them over. Everyone on this site clearly has a shared attachment to this club. Some of your points are valid. I am really worried about losing cesc and/or nasri this summer but expressing your views in this manner is childish - pointless and over the top!

Thanks for wasting my time for the second time running, ..... again reading down to somewhere the 4th paragraph of this wonderfully written sarcastic article. Result? well i used to read everything in this site, not anymore. Too many negative comments, articles and honestly it is making me think whether this site is run by anti arsenal fans. Maybe not , but I have had enough of this and yes I know we had a terrible season and that things will not improve next season which by the way are not all Arsene's or board's fault. I said it 5 years ago, 10 years ago and I always will - I wont be less of a gunner for better or worse.

Brilliant article Comrade! As an ex-ST holder of Strasbourg, Cannes, Nancy and AS Monaco I can call myself a true loyal Gooner now as I have been supporting our Lord Wenger long before his descend at our humble beloved club. We have achieved tremendous things this season, finishing 4th is a gift to the fans as they will be offered even more matches! Away tickets for Dynamo Bucharesti will be even on GS! What moaning at 6%? Silver only went up from 20 to 30 and Red from 30 to 36. I don't see a 6% rise there! Besides, if so called supporters think it is too much money to have the opportunity to try and buy tickets then they should piss off to the misery of a 2nd division club! I, as a true gooner, have renewed both my ST and Silver membership out of pure loyalty and this has nothing to do with the fact that once I jump off the bandwagon I will only be able to re-join again after a few decades of being a miserable red level new comer which moans but never attends matches. Don't moan about the past seasons! As anyone, like me, already bought our new low priced jersey? They have enriched our proud badge, which is now a nice sticker because of health and safety, with the word FORWARD. Again, Arsene has spoken! We should look forward and I suggest this new jersey is now mandatory for anyone entering the stadium next season. Also anyone not saluting our "IAWT/AS" banners or standing up during matchtime, shouting ugly things into the direction of the field instead of engaging themselves into the art of whispering and discussing the deeper meaning of Arsene's tactics, should be banned from the ground. So, stop moaning and let us all go forward with Arsene and the board!

It wasnt funny the first time round and its worse the second, yes well done on your mastery of sarcasm, its just unforunate you are unable to combine it with any type of wit or humour! Im ashamed we support the same team, purely based on your writing! How has someone let you put so much drivel on here? Is there no editor? I totally disagree with this article. Yes we beat Barcelona at home but you cannot be known as the best in Europe just for one win. In the end you have to see in terms of trophies, when you win something in Europe like the champions League and league title then I believe you are the best team in Europe. And when you win the FIFA World club cup then you are the best in the world. You cannot say Arsenal are the best just because they beat the Premier League title winners Manchester United and Champions League winners Barcelona not to forgot the 3-1 win against Chelsea all at home even though these victories deserve some recognition. But you see I believe these are mere glimpses of what Arsenal are capable of and until they don't end their trophy-less drought and win something by competing against the best of the best they will just another football team and far from being like the invincibles of 2003/2004

How anyone could read this blog and not realise he's taking the piss out of the AKBs is beyond me. Unfortunately some of the comments here say more about the AMGs level of intelligence than anything else. @ Arsenal Fan (I Love AW): 'without Arsene there is no Arsenal' - shut the f*ck up you sheep. It's people like you Peter Hill-Wood & co love. Wenger arselickers who will never dare to question some of the things that has wrong with OUR club in recent years. Check your football history before spouting such rubbish such as that and "AMG's don't understand football". I know more about football than you, that's for sure. The Arsenal was formed in 1886, a good 43 years before your God Arsene was born, that's why we have this 'commerative kit'. And before your God Arsene was born, we became only the 2nd club in English football history to do three consecutive league titles. Arsene rests on his laurels after one, which is why he has never done two or more in a row either with us or Monaco. Look up great Arsenal names such as Herbert Chapman & George Graham and what they did for our club before coming up with such drivel. The Arsenal existed long before Wenger and will be around long after he has left us. And another thing, I too am a true fan and have been since before the 1987 League Cup win against Liverpool (btw, Arsene wasn't responsible for that great triumph) when I was just seven. I've still retained my season ticket even though I could have so easily have given it up. I will still attend away games too. The difference between me and people like you is that I'm not oblivious by our current malaise and like many saw it coming a few years ago. I suppose by your logic, without Fergie, there is no Man Utd, therefore meaning we'll neglect everything Busby did between 1945-69 (there goes my superior football knowledge again), Porto are nothing without Andre Villas-Boas, even though before his appointment last summer, Porto had won two European Cups, two more than us and without Guardiola, there is no Barcelona, even though Barca's renowned 'Total Football' started in the 1970s under Rinus Michels (Wenger's mentor and the true creator of Total Football, not Arsene) and not under Pep, who btw did his coaching badges with us so no-one should ever rule out the possibility of Guardiola being our manager within the next few years. Rant over.

i stopped reading after the first few sentences, Barca are no better than Arsenal? are you smashed out of your tree? did you not see the hiding we got from them at the Nou camp this year? we couldnt make 3 passes in a row, and didnt have one goal on target, an own goal gave us some dignity with the loss, Barca passing is 200 times better, their work of the ball is just amense, such fitness to keep it up, id like to see Arsenal press like Barca, and another one is is that they know how to shoot we dont simple as that, and not even going into defending, lol.. so i pity you for wasting about 2 - 3hours of your life writing this S**t, if you want a sick joke blog go to sickipedia.com

Seriously, if people didn't get your 'funny' article the first time, do you have to subject the rest of us to it again? As i said before, sarcasm and satire doesn't make you clever or funny, if you had to try it twice it certainly doesn't. A bit like when a comedian has to explain the punchline, means it probably isn't funny. What you have done really well though is reiterate that you are a moron and that you really think you're superior to people who read this, which as a supposed writer, is not something you really want to do. Never mind, try again, 3rd time lucky eh? i'm sure you've got a great article in you somewhere, you just need a few tries to find it!

  52. Arsenal Fan (I Love AW)

    Jun 04, 2011, 22:03 #8234

AW is the best thing since sliced bread. The AMG's don't understand football - without Arsene there is no Arsenal. In AW the true Arsenal fans trust.

If Inter nicked Diaby for £35 mill, it'd be the steal of the century. In another five/six seasons, with a little bit of injury luck, this bloke will be our best ever centre midfielder. He looks a little like Vieira as well has anyone noticed! His football brain is unmatched at the club and it wouldn't surprise me to see Ferguson try to nick him summer.

Mr Hill Wood was right, your are one of the silly people. I think it would be better to re-locate to Japan rather than China as AW knows his way around the J league.

Fantastic, funny satire!!! The best part is all the plebs who have written in saying 'waaa waaah rubbish article'. So rubbish, you took the time out to read it yes!!! Ha ha ha ha. And if you didn't, then you in no position to comment. Super stuff, keep it coming. Wenger and the AKBs need to be called out, named and shamed! The club has become a joke.

Confusing mix one minute you think it is sarcastic but the next? Overall some good points but hardly original. Wengs policy has been shown to be floored and roundly panned with even most wenger diehards such as Joe Fitzpatrick and Robert Exley wakibng up. Poorly written sarcasm does not do your sentiment any favours, when you do make some decent points. Tell it straight!

Sarcasm doesn't write very well. It ends up looking like you're trying too hard to be funny.

Fantastic Article. The AKB's just dont get it.How many times have you read on blogs including OLG since last saturday that if RVP hadnt been sent off we would have won in the Camp Nou.Even though we had ZERO shots!!!!And you know what Wenger really believes that.

you are on drugs mate if you think arsenal are better than barca,im an arsenal fan and have been since the seventies ,we beat them at the emarites 2-1 but should have been behind by about six and the same the game the year before ,arsene needs to get his head out of the sand ,buy early and not leave it last minute and spend the money now as we will just be left with the dross of europe otherwise,we need two good cenral defenders another good midfield playmaker so that when fab goes awol he can step in and get rid of bentner, denilson, eboue and all the other sub standard players that are drawing a big wage and doing naff all in return.what barca did to manure was a lesson to us ,our work rate needs to up 100 per cent,as barca did not let them breath,we can not do that to manu, end of discussion.

no way wenger is a disgrace and I want my Arsenal back no more lies, no more greed and no more pathetic tactics. The manager is nothing to me. He has achieved nothing. All his titles he owes to George Graham (and evidence of that is Wenger's refusal to acknowledge him). Screw off wenger and never come back. Anyone But Wenger

    a) morals dont win ****. b) barca won because they shot from outside the D box when vidic and co were defending against threaded balls into it. Will wenger ever let them do that? c) barca don't give up. Over the past THREE seasons the number of times they've become complacent in matches can be counted on fingers. Thats why they lost so few games. As much as our boys harried them in the first leg they DID become complacent in the second half, and we stung them. Wenger has everything correct, the players don't. I don't see why so many Arsenal fans think of Barcelona as the enemy when we should be learning from them. Anyone who watches Barca can tell you that the number of times they harried the ref was when they played against Real. Also, don't forget that they had a terrible dry spell with players like xavi and iniesta. Guardiola pretty much took the cocksureness out of the team. In terms of talent and ability we are MIIIIILES ahead of our supposed better counterparts in Anderson, Carrick, Rooney, blah blah. In terms of the correct mental ability, well, we'd be relegated by now if they had a table based on that. I think the players need to go out on a soul searching mission to see what it is they lack, because clearly the only solution to this problem is THEMSELVES.
