Jonesey is f**king spot on... YOU CHARGE OPERA PRICES, YOU GET OPERA FANS... It's as simple as that! Going footie used to be a ritual in which father and son would bond then make good friends, have kids and do the same all over again... Today, the pure & utter sickening greed engulfing the game is slowly killing all passion and love I had for the sport! I watch the games on streams and telly now... If I can be bothered! 5 years, it was my life! Speaks volumes!

To the other comments you can't start slating off all arsenal fans. I know the home atmosphere is ****e (apart from a few: barca, Spurs etc.) but the majority of times I've been to away games over the past few seasons it's been quality, as it's a chance for all of us to stand and sing together for 90 minutes. The home support at a lot of other grouns e.g. Anfield, Old Trafford is often just as bad. We have plenty of decent songs (She Wore, B'Jesus etc.) that only appear at away games as plenty of home fans don't sing/don't know them.

I agree with a lot of what has been said. We need 2 singing 'cores' at either end. Block 6 needs to raise its game/help from the club doing so. We were pushing for a winner in the last 5 minutes against Fulham. People were leaving?! Staggering. Blissfully lacking in self-awareness. Why? Is it because people want to avoid the crowds that's at the heart of the problem? With the whole stadium roaring the team on it might have pushed us over the line. It's called support. I think we all need to take responsibility and use some ititiative rather than inwardly moaning and blaming others. I have 2 new guys near me. They are fantastic. They get everyone around them going, without being irritating. And pull everyone together. Top support. Instead of groaning we should all pull our fingers out from time to time. You'll be surprised how thankful a lot of other people are. Cracking songs can be lost on too many people these days. eg. I like Eb-boue-boue (to 'I like to move it move it' by real to reel.)Original and quality.

some people on this forum to chip in with decent suggestions but all to often other more "established" forum members just poo poo them all to easily. Try better yourselves then instead of moaning. p.s. I also love the mertesaker / macereina effort. would love to hear this one on the terraces.

When we sing 'We're the north bank, we're the north bank' and 'we're the clock end, we're the clock end' etc why don't we all sing in unison at the end of these sequences 'we're THE ARSENAL, we're THE ARSENAL, we're THE ARSENAL, Highbury'. It would make a good finale

'Good Old Arsenal' was invented/written by London Weekend Television before the '71 Cup Final - it s hardly 'our' song. It sounded OK at Wembley in '71 - but songs like 'B'Jesus', 'She wore a yellow ribbon' or 'Who s that team we call the Arsenal..' are more genuine Arsenal songs and age better. I think we need two singing sections - one at the back of the North Bank, one at the back of the Clock End: atmosphere would build naturally out from those two centres - as happened at Highbury in the late '60s. But is the board really interested in improving atmosphere? They should be: ultimately what s the point in going to a game if there s atmosphere watching it down the pub? Finally: how do we stop people leaving early? This never happened to the same extent at Highbury - it doesn t happen at other grounds. It s f..king irritating to have people pushing their way past when there s five minutes to go and we should be roaring the team on - there must be some way to stop it?? And strangely enough I ve never actually met anyone who admits to leaving games early...

Top stuff, Lester. Let's keep it simple and all try to make these songs work.. As it stands at the moment, RedAction does all the donkey work, but the songs take time to reach the nether regions of The Grove, and they invariably get lost en route.

Atmosphere is pathetic at times, but other times its amazing. Perhaps if the club were to play Good Old Arsenal before kick-off rather than that God awful Elvis song it would help get the atmosphere going.

hi, For me as a season ticket holder I am f_cked off with the same songs over and over week in week out > 1) We Love You Arsenal We Do.... 2) ...........and it's Arsenal Arsenal FC we're by far..... 3) Stand up if you hate Tottenham... what a **** chant FFS!! Sounds like something made up by 10 year olds! YAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we have the few random efforts of others around me in the lower tier trying (in vein) to sing something new - and witty. Alas, even though they are easy to learn ditties of 5, 6 or so lines no one really joins in and it dies a death. Then there are the ones where we just copy other songs created by other teams supporters and used regularly by them. This is just lazy and boring - and ones I refuse to join in with. I agree lets have back 'Good old Arsenal' as it is OUR song and not copied by others. But lets also have some creation and imagination in coming up with new chants / songs that we can call ours! In amongst the tens of thousands of Arsenal fans we must surely have someone who can knock something up???! But of coarse it requires all the rest of us to join in to get it going! However I'm sure that will happen if it is a good one, or funny one!!!

@ Ron, spot on mate. Can we kill this God Almighty myth that it's only at The Arsenal when it's quiet. I've been to grounds all over the country and it's the same whereever you go, most of the home support are quiet. I follow a Kopite friend to Anfield a few times a season and you can hear a pin drop there. The only time that place is electric is when Man utd are the visitors and I've done that fixtures a few times over the years. It's also well known that Fergie, Giggs and Roy Keane in the past have complained about a lack of atmosphere at Old Trafford. Some football fans up and down the land really need to open their ears and eyes on all football matters present and past and not just their own team.

Agreed there are too many tourists, But to be honest there are still enough true gooners there to still get a better atmosphere than there is. We gotta look at ourselves.. Gotta song for Chamberlain from the old chant for shaun Goater.. "feed the Ox and he will score"

Totally agree with the comments about the Tottenham song. What encouragement is it to team to hear the fans sing that?.Sing Arsenal songs. The lack of variety of songs from the singing section is embarassing.Last original song the Freddie song back at Highbury

Borussia Dortmund - that was real passionate support. Imagine it from 60,000 voices - then we'd really have the place rocking! Remember Barca fans in Paris? I can still hear their fans' roar when they equalised. And I agree we need to stop singing about hating Tottenham - apart from when we are playing them. We don't even have a song for Jack let alone Santos, Koscielny, Szcz etc - why not?

Message to RedAction stop singing "Stand up if you hate Tottnumb" unless we are playing them.Singing it 10 times a game if we are playing Bolton is plain barmy. And start singing B'Jesus. Its our song which no other club sings. The words are not too difficult are they?.Call yourself singing section?

Highbury had very few electric occasions once all the standing went, however i seem to remember the night we beat juve 2-0 on viera's return the noise that night was fantastic, the new yard is beyond a joke but Ron is right, nowhere is that great anymore, most noise is generated from away sections wherever you go! i used to love the banter between the topside and the middle on the old northbank!Bring back standing!!!!

Create a section of the stadium for the travel club members only as the away support is fantastic.Does any one remember the piped in crowd noise at Highbury during the re development of the north bank, that was louder then Ashburton. My best song from the the North Bank was Who's up Mary Brown Tommy Tommy Docherty after he was caught playing away with his phisio.

Excellent Lester!!! Now, that's the spirit! Let's sing 'em back to shape! I lived up north for a few years and watched Arsenal away at several northen grounds and I think singing seems to be a northern skill? (casing point: "chelski, chelski chelski" or "oh when the Spuds go marching in..." ha ha ha)

These are awesome! My wife laughs that I sing along from my couch in South Africa to whatever chants are being sung (...the ones I know) At least someone read my previous post about chants! Yeaaaahhhh!!! Now if we'd only steal that Saint Pauli "we love you" chant... that would bring down the roof (...especially relevant for away games)

    Dec 02, 2011, 12:43 #15540

Oh mate, not this old chestnut! Do a few away grounds. Singing is pretty insipid everywhere. Yes, some are better than others but the social make up uf fans is totally different now. Tribalism has gone from football supporting and for mostly good reasons. Its affected the fanaticism of support though. Your Anfields and Goodsions are often like morgues too. Its needs the right game at Arsenal to whip up a atmosphere, but be honest there are no intimidating stadiums any more and in London especially. Not one. West Ham can be, but for the last 10 years the atmosphere there is pretty feeble too.

Agree with Andy. Too many tourists eating noodles and nachos and treating it like an afternoon at the theatre. God I wish these cretins who have infested our club would just sod off. WE WANT OUR ARSENAL BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Dec 02, 2011, 12:25 #15538

The club gets the atmosphere it deserves. The red section is tucked away in the corner as far away from opposition fans as possible. Block 5 isn't perfect but fans that actually want to make some noise should be given priority not treated as an afterthought. I guess noisy fans need more supervision and the club can't be bothered with that so they attract tourist fans that just sit down, shut up and spend lots of money. The fans that want to create an atmosphere at the spacebowl are few and far between but chelsea away (when we were losing and drawing- but it's brilliant every year) proves what can happen when they get together. The lack of long, rolling songs is an issue and 'we're by far the greatest team' is no-ones anthem but new songs won't make a difference if there are only 3 people singing them.

Its now a day out at a theme park a trip to the E*******.At the Fulham game sat next to a guy and his two kids who paid no attention to the game at all.But he had two bags of goods from the club shop and thats all the club cares about.Get em in spend some money and keep quiet. The German fans put us to shame that was real support.

One of my favourite ones always used to be the North Bank chant of the 70's and 80's...Give us an A, give us an R...etc. We just don't have any really long songs anymore and the fact that some 'fan's around me do not like me singing winds me up. (I am sat in block 01, 13 rows back from the home bench) Too many people attending now who spend more time looking at their phone and using cameras and fail to get involved in any real support!

What happened to great chants like the Viera and Freddie ones? We did used to sing at highbury and when we did it really rocked. Ashburton can rock but I think fans are just bored of the chants like come on arsenal, and we love u arsenal we do.

  35. Its all gone quite over here

    Dec 02, 2011, 6:44 #15527

We dont sing any songs at the Moon Bowl(no atomosphere) but "Stand up if you hate Tottnumb" and "One Arsene Wenger(sic)".We didnt sing at Highbury as well.As Chuck Berry said those of you who will not sing you must be playing with your Ding-a-linger-ling
