Seven goals! Never anything to complain about, but the win against Blackburn does raise some questions -
1. Will this provide the team with an opportunity to push on and play without the proverbial handbrake on?
2. Should the Ox play week-in, week-out now?
3. Will we (in an example of typical Arsenal irony) go to the Stadium of Light, miss about ten sitters and then lose the game 1-0?
4. Should Henry just "lose" his passport and stay at Arsenal for the rest of the season?
5. Do you play Rosicky ahead of Ramsey until the latter looks a bit less knackered?
6. Was Pedersen's free kick as good as or better than Larsson's at the Emirates earlier this season?
7. How on earth did we lose to this team earlier on in the campaign?
Our friendly neighbourhood Denchman, Emmanuel Frimpong, suffered another cruciate knee ligament injury while on loan at Wolves, proving you can take the player out of Arsenal, but not the Arsenal out of the player. Seriously though, he was playing well at Wolves, and it is a blow to the player, of whom I’m a big fan. I hope he comes back and makes a full recovery.
Did anyone see Gervinho's goal in the African Nation's semi-final? Was a bit special. Granted the defending was Arsenal-esque by Mali, but a cool finish nevertheless. Hopefully, he can return to Arsenal a better player, and, if the Ivory Coast win the tournament, a more confident one.
Look like Gibbs is back in the squad. Place your bets now for how many consecutive games he’ll play before being sidelined again...I hope he can have a run in the side, as it will move Vermaelen back into the middle and, with Sagna back, our defence looks to have a little more depth going into a crucial spell of games.
Sunderland twice? I was rooting for Boro on Wednesday but hopefully, after a gruelling 120 minutes, they may be easier pickings on Saturday. However, they are exactly the type of side that we struggle against; added to that, can we beat them twice on their own patch? We could take a draw in the Cup and bring them to the Grove, but that means fixture congestion....
Are Chelsea the new Arsenal? Judging by their three-goal surrender on Sunday past, it seems so. However, nothing will compare to the four-goal head-start we gave the Geordies last season...If we can beat Liverpool, who are poor at Anfield, and exploit Chelsea's deficiencies, perhaps the "minimal" requirement of fourth is possible. I still stick to my point that we cannot lose another game in the league this season, but will be amazed if we get to May with only eight losses under our belt.
Next week also sees us play against one of Europe's most successful sides, AC Milan, at the San Siro. A goal would be nice, and hopefully we can take our key players such as RvP there, unscathed and ready to cause some damage. Fingers crossed, but a massive upcoming month for the Gooners and for Arsène Wenger.
