Analysis: Points shared at the Emirates in Arsenal vs Palace

A 13th draw of the season for Arsenal as they draw 2-2 with Palace, see how the visitors earned points on the road

An early Arsenal goal from Jakub Kiwior, his first of the season, looked to set the tone for the game, but Palace settled in well and made it difficult for Arsenal to play through the middle.

The Eagles stayed strong in their formation, stopping Arsenal from playing the free-flowing football that they often enjoy.

The visitors quickly scared Arsenal with an equaliser, as Eze’s strike bounced in off the post, going round David Raya, and their waves of attack did not cease, with goal scorer Kiwior having to make some vital blocks to stop the Palace attempts.

Towards the end of the opening half, Leandro Trossard found himself in possession at the edge of the box, dodging round the Palace defence, he found the bottom corner, putting Arsenal back in the lead. The half ended 2-1.

The second half was end-to-end, with both teams constantly attacking and defending. A few saves from Raya saw Palace denied a second equaliser.

Raya looked uncertain throughout this evening's fixture, struggling to claim balls and opting to punch them away instead.

An Arsenal attack saw Martinelli tap in a cross. Shortly afterwards, the offside flag went up. A VAR check saw the offside overturned, however the goal didn't stand due to the ball going over the back line before going into the box for the goal.

Minutes after his introduction to the game, the ever physical Jean-Philippe Mateta caught out Saliba, who gave up the ball cheaply, and in seeing Raya off his line, hit a powerful strike, equalising again for the Eagles.

Arsenal looked ruffled as they tried to find a late winner, but Palace had a taste of glory and kept their attacks coming, with Mateta looking more and more dangerous, sending crosses and shots into the box.

An extra 8 minutes saw the scramble for a winning goal continue for both sides, with Arsenal continuing to come forwards, but the full-time whistle signalled that the points were shared.

A 13th draw of the season for Arsenal, and a confidence boost for Palace who head into an FA Cup semi-final this weekend.
