Maddy Earl has followed fellow academy midfielder Laila Harbert in signing her first professional contract with Arsenal.
The 18-year-old joined Arsenal’s academy at the age of eight, and has been a part of senior squads in recent years, featuring from the bench against the A-League All Stars and Washington Spirit in friendlies last year.
Earl spent the first half of this season on loan with Championship side Bristol City, making five appearances, and has returned to Arsenal in January to continue her development. She is yet to make her competitive debut for the Gunners.
The attacking midfielder was instrumental for Arsenal’s Under-21s at the Blue Stars FIFA Youth Cup in May 2024, and was recognised as player of the tournament, receiving the Golden Ball as the Gunners won silverware in Zurich.
“Signing my first professional contract with Arsenal, my childhood club, is such an honour and a privilege,” said Earl.
“Arsenal feels like home and to be able to continue my development here is incredible. Growing up in the academy, I had the opportunity to learn from some wonderful role models and get regular exposure to playing with first-team players. I’m so grateful for that journey and excited to continue working hard for the future.”
Head of Player Development James Honeyman said: “Maddy has been a key part of our academy set-up and we’re so proud of her journey and the steps she has taken to begin her transition to the senior environment. We’re all looking forward to supporting Maddy as she continues her development in the game.”
Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley added: “We’re thrilled to see another young player progress through our academy to sign professional terms with us. Maddy has a great foundation to build on and through hard work and commitment, she can continue to grow and develop as a player as she embarks on her professional career.”
