The North Londoners are already without Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka with hamstring injuries, with striker Gabriel Jesus out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury.
A frustrated Arteta recently spoke of his "disappointment" at not being able to sign attacking reinforcements during the January transfer window - with an offer for Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins rejected by the Villa Park outfit.
Arsenal's only options are now Raheem Sterling, Ethan Nwaneri or Leandro Trossard as centre-forward, with the Gunners hopes of landing a first Premier League title in more than two decades suffering a serious blow.
