Arsenal are preparing a stunning £60m move for Bayern Munich attacker Leroy Sane.

Mikel Arteta is keen to add to his squad following the arrival of defender Riccardo Calafiori last week, and has turned his attention to the German international after missing out on previous targets Benjamin Sessko and Joshua Zirkzee this summer.

Arteta is desperate to go one better after two runners-up placings in the last two seasons, and believes for the former Manchester City forward is the player who can take Arsenal to the next level and leapfrog Pep Guardiola's billionaire moneybags to top spot.

Despite ending the season without a trophy in Bavaria, Sane contributed seven goals and seven assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances the campaign before, as Bayern lifted their 10th consecutive title prior to Harry Kane's arrival at the Allianz.

Leroy Sane previously praises Mikel Arteta as Arsenal target Bayern Munich star

Leroy Sane is a big fan of Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, as the Gunners eye a move for the Bayern Munich winger this summer.

The 28-year-old worked with Arteta when he was assistant manager at Manchester City, and he could link up with him again as Arsenal eye a sensational £60m move for the German.

In an interview with the Independent back in July 2020, Sane hailed Arteta.

"I can just say positive things about Mikel Arteta. Since we started working together, he helped me a lot on the pitch," he said.

"He tried to improve my football; he told me what I did good and what I did wrong, and he tried to work on it. Next to Pep, they both really helped me and improved me, to bring me to the next level.

"Even now, at Arsenal, for me you can see he’s doing a great job. You can see he has a concept, a way that he wants to play, a way that he wants his team to play, and obviously it will take some time until everybody really understands it.

"I think he will do a great job as a coach too."
