Player Ratings:
David Raya: 7/10 - Tipped over a rasping drive from Cole Palmer in the opening stages. Displayed excellent handling throughout but could the Euro 2024 winner has done better in terms of his positioning for Neto’s equaliser
Ben White: 6.5/10 - Booked in a less than convincing display that saw Pedro Neto beat the Gunners defender easily before whipping in a cross that Malo Gusto should have headed home.
William Saliba: 7/10 - Battled well against a Chelsea forward line boasting the fit again Cole Palmer
Gabriel: 7/10 - Solid and reliable
Jurrien Timber: 7.5/10 - Nearly shoved into the stands following Caicedo’s dangerous second half shove
Thomas Partey: 7.5/10 - Solid and reliable
Declan Rice: 6.5/10 - Showed courage to play despite having a broken toe. Let’s hope Lee Carsely sees sense and doesn’t field the midfielder in England’s pointless Nations League matches next week. Made way for Merino with 19 minutes remaining
Martin Odegaard: 7.5/10 - Great to see the club captain return to the starting line-up following his injury that kept him out for nearly two months – even if Caciedo’s ‘welcome back reducer’ knocked the stuffing out of the Norwegian. Recovered well enough to provide an assist for Gabi’s goal
Bukayo Saka: 7/10 - Engaged in an absorbing duel with Euro 2024 final foe Marc Cucurella. Swapped for Jesus with nine minutes left
Kai Havertz: 6.5/10 - Chelsea fans showed their true colours by singing: Chelsea Reject at the player whose goal in the final won their club the 2021 Champions League final. Classy that for a player that has displayed courage over the last few days by playing despite suffering a nasty head injury against Inter Milan at the San Siro
Gabi Martinelli: 7/10 - Malo Gusto got ahead of the backtracking No11 but was fortunate the Chelsea right-back headed over when well-placed. The lively Brazil attacker had an excellent first half chance of his own, but his effort was blocked by Sanchez in the Chelsea goal. Deserved his goal but needs to be more clincial
Substitutes:
Leandro Trossard: 6/10 - Fired over when well-placed on 87 minutes
Mikel Merino: 6/10 - Saw Sanchez save from his late flick
Jesus: 6/10 - Replaced Saka on 81 minutes
