Chloe Kelly, Jenna Nighswonger added to Arsenal Women Champions League squad

Laura Wienroither and Kathrine Kuhl have been removed from the 25-player knockout stages group




January signings Chloe Kelly and Jenna Nighswonger have both been added to Arsenal Women’s UEFA Women’s Champions League squad.

Clubs had to submit their final 25-player squads to UEFA by midnight yesterday (Wednesday) for the knockout stages of the competition.

Defender Amanda Ilestedt has also been included after returning from maternity leave.

Laura Wienroither, on loan at Manchester City, and Kathrine Kuhl, who left for Roma in January, have been removed, with Wienroither included in City’s squad.

Freya Godfrey, on loan at London City Lionesses, also drops out.

Arsenal travel to Real Madrid on Tuesday for the first leg of their quarter-final tie, with the Gunners winning five from six group games to top Group C.

Arsenal’s squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Manu Zinsberger, Daphne van Domselaar, Naomi Williams.

Defenders: Emily Fox, Laia Codina, Leah Williamson, Steph Catley, Jenna Nighswonger, Amanda Ilestedt, Katie Reid, Niamh Peacock (B List).

Midfielders: Mariona Caldentey, Kim Little, Frida Maanum, Lia Walti, Victoria Pelova, Kyra Cooney-Cross.

Forwards: Beth Mead, Katie McCabe, Rosa Kafaji, Lina Hurtig, Chloe Kelly, Caitlin Foord, Alessia Russo, Stina Blackstenius.
