Arsenal forward Beth Mead spoke to the Gooner Fanzine after a triumphant 5-0 Gunners victory over Bristol City in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Mead, who scored a brace in tonight’s win, spoke about Arsenal’s rich history in the competition, and her ambitions for it this season:
“I am actually very hungry to win an FA Cup,” Mead told the Gooner, “I’ve played in a few finals and fallen short”.
Arsenal have the most success in the competition’s history with 14 titles won, but have not been able to find joy in Mead’s eight years at the club. Their last final was in 2021 where they lost 3-0 to Chelsea, but it seems like the squad wants to go one step further this season and lift the trophy.
Mead went on to say, “We’ve spoken today in our meeting about how hungry we are for this competition and the history of the club and what we want to do as well, we’ve now got to start producing that”.
Players and staff are obviously eager to find form in this competition and come out on top to add another title to their rich FA Cup history. A win in the fifth round would send them into the quarter-finals.
The Gunners’ next FA Cup match will be on Sunday 9th February at 14:00 against London City Lionesses.
