Full time: Real Madrid 2-0 Arsenal
90+the clock doesn't tell me' Little with an effort over the bar as Madrid wind the clock down. 2-0
90+1' Carmona is now booked for a coming-together, and she's not happy. 2-0
90' Five added minutes. 2-0
89' Kelly is shown yellow for a bodycheck on Carmona almost as late as my arrival back into my hotel last night. 2-0
87' Antonia replaces Weir as Real Madrid park el autobus. 2-0
85' Hurtig and Maanum come on for Mariona and Russo. 2-0
82' Make it 2-0!! Athenea does the one thing Arsenal haven’t- shoot on site, in space on the edge of the box, and she beats Zinsberger to make it 2-0
82' Ah- down goes Misa rather theatrically for the first time, clutching the ball to her chest. And you can't blame her- this would be an incredible result to take to North London. 1-0
79' Excellent from Mariona to set Foord in behind but she aims for Little instead of shooting and Real win the ball back. 1-0
74' Changes for Madrid as Feller and Athenea replace Caicedo and Bruun. 1-0
72' If I'm an Arsenal player, I'm having a shot from distance at this stage. Misa needs to be tested more between the sticks, with the likes of Russo following in on rebounds. 1-0
70' Walti comes on for Cooney-Cross. 1-0
69' Zinsberger gets down well to deny Weir from distance. 1-0
68' Russo with a great ball to play Kelly in behind, she goes down and the referee says no penalty! 1-0
65' Leupolz is applauded by the home fans as she is withdrawn after that knee injury, replaced by Dorado. 1-0
63' Falls to Cooney-Cross and her low shot from the edge of the box is blocked. 1-0
62' Kelly gets a shot away from nothing, deflected for a corner. 1-0
62' Worry there for Leupolz, who recently returned from injury, but after treatment she's able to continue. Her teammates beckoned the physios on urgently, so that looked concerning for a minute. 1-0
57' The flag stays down as Foord races in behind- Mariona's cross is well dealt with before the assistant puts the flag up. 1-0-
54' Close! Bruun's cross from the right causes havoc and it's almost an OG from Fox. Foord gets a shot away down the other end and it's well blocked. 1-0
53' Kelly's cross takes a looping deflection and it's spilled by Misa, who grabs hold of the rebound. 1-0
52' There's Caicedo again into the box, Fox defends well but then just leaves a leg in in her follow-through. Appeals for a penalty turned down. 1-0
50' Caicedo gets past Fox but Williamson defends well. 1-0
46' The second half in the Madrid mudbath is underway. 1-0
Kelly and Foord replace Mead and Blackstenius.
Chloe Kelly is set to come on- looks like Caitlin Foord too.
3,102 in attendance here at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano. 1-0
1-0, sorry!
Half time: 0-0
45' Russo is fouled midway inside the Madrid half. The free-kick is headed away before Mead is just wide with a low effort- close! 1-0
42' Great defending by Garcia to slide in and deny Mariona. If there's one good thing about this weather, it's the slide tackles. 1-0
40' Caicedo races down the wing and a combination of Fox, Little and Williamson scramble to win the ball back. 1-0
37' A huge slip there for Bruun- that could have been nasty. This is becoming a dreadful spectacle for a top-level Champions League quarter-final, especially with the Bernabeu empty and available... 1-0
34' Worked short and Mendez is there to head away again before bit of pinball in the box. Real clear and Fox beats Caicedo to the ball to play back to Zinsberger. 1-0
34' A miscued clearance from Carmona gives Arsenal a corner. 1-0
31' Fox and Mead are defended well by the home side before Williamson's cross is headed away by Mendez. 1-0
29' Real are enjoying a good spell of possession and that's a good interception from McCabe to stop Angeldahl getting a shot away. 1-0
22' Goal! There's the opener, and who else but Caicedo. Arsenal are hit on the break, the ball squirms through the Arsenal defence, taking an awkward bobble, and Caicedo finishes well. 1-0
22' Williamson with an excellent long ball to set Blackstenius away down the left. Arsenal work the ball back infield but lose possession. 0-0
20' McCabe tries the Olimpico from the resulting corner and it lands on the roof of the net. 0-0
12' Best chance of the game so far! Blackstenius is played through and it's a good save from Misa. 0-0
19' The ball drops to Mariona on the left side of the area but she volleys the shot a long way wide. 0-0
18' Caicedo races past Fox in behind, the right-back does well to hold her off before Real keep possession. Will be a good battle between those two. 0-0
16' First offside of the evening for Blackstenius, looking to get onto another low ball zipped into the area. 0-0
11' Russo sends in a low cross and Mendez clears- Arsenal's first foray into the box. 0-0
10' I've seen non-league referees that would be closely inspecting this pitch, if not considering calling the game off. Looks a real struggle to play on. 0-0
5' "Champions of Europe, the only in the land" sing Arsenal's travelling fans.
4' As expected, keeping possession is easier said than done on a muddy playing surface. Little lost her footing early on. 0-0
1' We are underway! 0-0
It's exactly three months since Arsenal beat Bayern Munich in a Meadow Park thriller, another rainy affair, incidentally, and now the Gunners finally continue their Champions League campaign. It's Real Madrid who stand in their way in the quarter-finals.
Here come the teams!
Laia Codina and Caitlin Foord are one booking away from a one-game suspension.
The biggest cheers in the team news from Arsenal's fans are for Mariona Caldentey and Laia Codina- the two players' flags are front and centre in the away end. Arsenal's supporters certainly recognise how big a night this is for their former Barcelona duo.
Both teams have finished their warm-ups and the ground staff are hard at work with their pitchforks.
In case you haven't seen on social media, the pitch here at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano is not in good condition after a day of almost non-stop heavy rain in Madrid. After an hour or so of nice weather, it's just started raining again.
If you're reading along, may I recommend at 6pm- 15 minutes into the game, tuning into BBC Radio London for the brilliant Women's Football Show, during which I'll be joining Emily and Emma live at half-time here in Madrid to discuss the game!
Arsenal topped their group to reach the quarter-finals, winning 5 out of 6 games. Real Madrid finished second in theirs, topped by Chelsea.
Real drew 2-2 with Deportivo La Coruna, naming a changed side ahead of tonight's fixture.
Arsenal won 3-1 away to Everton on Friday night, moving up to 2nd in the WSL thanks to Liverpool's win over Man United.
Colombia star Linda Caicedo is fit enough to start for Real Madrid, who have former Gunner Caroline Weir in attacking midfield.
Kyra Cooney-Cross partners Kim Little in midfield, and Laia Codina & Rosa Kafaji both return to the squad.
So Stina Blackstenius starts upfront for Arsenal with Alessia Russo in the ten.
Subs: Laia, Sofia, Antonia, Redondo, Yasmim, Moller, Carla Camacho, Eva Navarro, Feller, Athenea, Noemi, Irune Dorado.
Real Madrid: Misa; Olga, Mendez, Lakrar, Sheila Garcia; Angeldahl, Leupolz, Toletti; Weir, Caicedo; Bruun.
Subs: Williams, Codina, Maanum, Walti, Kafaji, Hurtig, Kelly, Foord, Pelova, Nighswonger, Ilestedt, Reid.
Arsenal: Zinsberger; McCabe, Catley, Williamson, Fox; Little, Cooney-Cross; Mariona, Russo, Mead; Russo.
Team news was in a while ago but I've only just been let into the ground, cheers Real! Here goes...
