Full time: Liverpool 0-1 Arsenal!
90+5' Good hold-up play from Blackstenius before Russo shoots straight at Micah. 0-1
90+3' Lotte Wubben-Moy comes on for Mariona. 0-1
90+1' "That's so soft from us" exclaims Matt Beard as another Liverpool attack comes to waste. Very frustrated on the touchline. 5 added minutes. 0-1
82' Mariona is booked for dragging down Olivia Smith on the counter-attack. 0-1
81' Lina Hurtig is on for Caitlin Foord. 0-1
80' Smart turn from Little and her shot is deflected over. 0-1
79' Blackstenius sees her shot blocked before Micah spills Foord's effort for another corner. 0-1
77' Close! McCabe's corner is headed over the bar by Williamson who was unmarked. 0-1
76' McCabe drives into the box after her initial corner was blocked by the first defender, and drives towards goal- good save. 0-1
75' Good from Cooney-Cross who gets into the area and delivers an inviting cross to the back post but no one is there. Fox gets the ball back in and Foord can win a corner. 0-1
71' Smith is back up after receiving treatment following a strong tackle that went unpunished by the referee, and Matt Beard is booked for complaining about just that. 0-1
68' A brain-fade by van Domselaar who kicks the ball straight to Smith and she can't find the finish. She is so fortunate to not concede there. 0-1
66' Williamson is dispossessed by Holland and Catley has to head her cross away. Nervy moments for Arsenal. 0-1
62' Foul on Mariona by Hinds who is shown yellow for that scything tackle. 0-1
59' Blackstenius and Little replace Mead and Maanum. Catley has been excellent again in defence up against Olivia Smith. 0-1
56' Kim Little and Stina Blackstenius are set to come on. 0-1
53' Van Domselaar punches away the resulting corner from Hinds. 0-1
52' Good recovery from McCabe to get across and block Fisk's low ball across goal. 0-1
50' That should have been 2-0 to Arsenal! Mead's shot takes a hefty deflection and hits the post, before Maanum fires the ball over from the centre of the box. 0-1
49' Smith breaks through into the box but Williamson shields her well to allow van Domselaar to spring off her line and claim. 0-1
46' The second half is underway. 0-1
Arsenal are unchanged for the second half.
Jen Beattie is in attendance here in Saint Helens- Kim Little has just waved up to her in the stands.
Get the sense that at 2-0 up, maybe Arsenal would relax a little more against a deflated Liverpool, but the penalty striking the post kept the home side in the game and they've caused Arsenal some real problems. Although it was Katie McCabe who almost put them in front, heading onto her own post!
Some frustrated looks on the Arsenal players walking down the tunnel, as despite the lead Renee Slegers’ side have been far from their best. Another goal for Alessia Russo, before Mariona hit the post from a penalty.
Half time: Liverpool 0-1 Arsenal
45+2' Absolutely superb tackle by Matthews to wrap her leg around Maanum who was one on one with Micah there. Top defending. 0-1
45+1' Three added minutes, and you feel Arsenal need half-time to come quickly. 0-1
43' Close! McCabe heads Bonner's deep cross back onto her own post and van Domselaar can claim the rebound. Almost a disastrous goal to concede. 0-1
38' There's still a sense that Arsenal just aren't clicking in attack yet despite the one goal lead. Mead threw her arms in the air when Maanum missed the target there and the Gunners have been frustrated well by the home side's organisation. 0-1
36' Foord cuts the ball back to Maanum and she looked to catch Micah out at her near post but dragged her effort first-time into the sidenetting. 0-1
35' Holland's delivery is well headed away by Russo, and Arsenal break through Mariona. She switches to Foord but Arsenal's attack comes to nothing. 0-1
35' Liverpool free-kick as Russo drags down Matthews midway inside the Arsenal half. 0-1
32' Fox crosses for Russo but the ball skims over her head and behind for a goal kick. 0-1
31' Good tackle by Catley as Smith looks to get on the ball but the Aussie lunges in and wins it back in the penalty area. 0-1
27' Off the post! Micah had gone the wrong way and Mariona hits the woodwork. 0-1
27' Mariona will take in Kim Little's absence. 0-1
26' Arsenal penalty as Russo is tripped by Bonner! 0-1
24' "This year, to save me from tears, I'll give it to Renee Slegers" sing the Arsenal fans to the tune of Last Christmas. 0-1
23' Alessia Russo now draws level with Guro Reiten on six WSL goals this season, only Bunny Shaw has more. All of them have come under Renee Slegers. 0-1
20' Goal! McCabe swings in a corner and it pings around in the penalty area before Russo can slam the ball home. Five in five in the WSL for her! 0-1
19' Nice combination from Maanum and Russo but neither can get a shot away from close range. 0-0
16' Smith sets Hinds away down the left but her cross is blocked. Liverpool have looked threatening on the transition. 0-0
14' Risky... Matthews plays the ball across the halfway line and Mariona intercepts, but her tackle sees the ball roll back to Micah to clear. 0-0
13' I talked up Smith, and she almost delivered! The ball dropped nicely for the Canadian and her volley just dipped wide of the top corner. Very close. 0-0
11' Better from Liverpool who have started to move the ball better with the likes of Smith and Hinds linking up. The wind is blowing towards van Domselaar's goal so set pieces will be a threat. 0-0
7' Bonner goes down under pressure from McCabe as Liverpool floated a free-kick towards the back post, no interest from the referee. 0-0
5' First effort from Caitlin Foord who sends a half-volley flying wide from the edge of the box. The offside flag was raised- I'm not sure I agree. 0-0
4' Mead has started on the left wing with Foord right. All Arsenal in the early stages. 0-0
1' We are underway! 0-0
Arsenal are in their light blue third kit, Liverpool in all red.
You'll Never Walk One time as red and white flags are raised by the home fans.
Everton have beaten Man City 2-1...
The teams are in the tunnel!
Arsenal won 2-0 away to Liverpool last season, Vivianne Miedema and Caitlin Foord the goalscorers- Matt Beard's side had won at the Emirates on the opening day of the campaign and know how to cause Arsenal problems.
And we've had plenty of Christmas music before kick-off too, a little bit too much pop for me though. Get The Darkness on...
Both sides have finished their warm-ups and are back in the dressing rooms. It's a decent crowd on the opposite side of the ground to the press box, whilst Arsenal look to have packed out their away allocation.
Liverpool can go sixth if they claim maximum points and other results go the Reds' way. Matt Beard's side lost 4-0 to United last week but were victorious over a weakened Everton side in midweek.
Arsenal go into the game a point behind 3rd-placed Manchester United, who are currently level early on against Crystal Palace in South London. Elsewhere, prepare for your eyebrows to be raised- Manchester City trail 2-0 away to Everton, whilst Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw at Leicester yesterday.
Star summer signing Olivia Smith leads the line alongside Mia Enderby, with Leanne Kiernan out injured.
Liverpool have switched to a back three (or five), depending on how you see their intentions this afternoon.
So Arsenal are unchanged from last weekend's 4-0 win at home to Aston Villa, and are boosted on the bench by the return of captain Kim Little from injury.
