Toffees hold Arsenal as Gunners drop two vital points at the Emirates

Player Ratings:

David Raya: 7/10 - A clean sheet ensured the Gunners gained at least a point when three were requried

Jurrien Timber: 7/10 - Took the place of makeshift right-back Thomas Partey and as ever was a muscular presence defensively and a threat when supplementing colleagues further forward. Needs to work on his throw-ins after a terrible effort that referee Craig Pawson correctly ruled as a foul throw

William Saliba: 7/10 - Header saved by Pickford after the break

Gabriel: 7/10 - Fit again after missing the draw at Fulham and the win over Monaco.  Showed his worth when preventing Abdoulaye Doucoure from firing home early on in arguably Everton’s only chance

Myles Lewis-Skelly: 7/10 - A neat and tidy performance. Testament to the calm temperament of the talented teenager that boss Mikel Arteta opted to remain with the 18-year-old in the starting Xi, after such an excellent display in the Champions League in midweek. Replaced by Thomas Partey late on with the Gunners searching for a goal

Mikel Merino: 6.5/10 - Solid and reliable as part of Arteta’s desire for a bigger presence in the side. Possesses quick feet and a good technique

Declan Rice: 6/10 - Looks desperately in need of a rest. Overhit several long balls to cede possession when under no threat. Switched for Jorginho halfway through the second half

Martin Odegaard: 6.5/10 - Jordan Pickford did well to block the Gunners captain’s effort on the half hour when well-placed. Swapped with Ethan Nwaneri just after the hour mark

Bukayo Saka: 7/10 - Always lively, always a threat. Volley saved by Pickford at the start of the second half

Kai Havertz: 6/10 - Arteta opted for the former Chelsea attacker in place of the badly out of form Jesus

Gabi Martinelli: 6/10 - Had an effort blocked by England keeper Jordan Pickford before the break. Never stopped working tirelessly for the cause even if he just couldn’t get behind the Everton backline before being replaced by Trossard late on

Substitutes:

Jorginho: 6/10 - On for Rice

Ethan Nwaneri: 6/10 - Changed with Odegaard in a bid to unlock the obdurate Toffees defence

Thomas Partey: 6/10 - Replaced MLS as Arteta changed his side around in the hunt for an opener

Gabriel Jesus: 5/10 - Came on for Merino

Leandro Trossard: 5.5/10 - Switched with Martinelli
