Player Ratings:

Jordan Pickford: 7/10 - Became the joint-second most capped England keeper on 75 caps. Despite an early mix-up with Marc Guehi, the Everton stalwart will have barely had quieter games against the willing, if limited Lativan side

Reece James: 7.5/10 - Rusty, and off the pace early on, while also ceding possession too easily. Thomas Tuchel was a big fan of the Chelsea defender while at Stamford Bridge, and we soon saw why as the talented Blues academy graduate soon found his stride. Executed a superb free-kick for his first ever England goal as the 25-year-old lifted his dead ball effort over the wall and into the top corner. Did his claim no harm to be the Three Lions starting right-back/right-wing-back as the first defender to score with a direct free kick since the legendary Stuart Pearce back in 1992

Ezri Konsa: 7.5/10 - Powerful early effort was superbly saved by Latvia’s keeper Krisjanis Zviedris. Worked well with Guehi alongside him in the heart of the backline

Marc Guehi: 7/10 - The 24-year-old centre-back was involved in a comical mix-up with keeper Jordan Pickford but fortunately Latvia's No9 Vladislavs Gutkovskis’s failed to capitalise on the error. Raw at times but still a class act in the making

Myles Lewis-Skelly: 7.5/10 - Good to see Arsenal’s talented teen keep his place after a stunning, goalscoring debut on Friday.

Declan Rice: 8/10 - The Gunners £105m midfielder marked six years in an England shirt with another assured performance. Provided an assist for Kane’s second half goal

Jarrod Bowen: 7/10 - A lively start for the West Ham attacking midfielder after Tuchel replaced the underwhelming Phil Foden. A shame VAR took an age deciding that despite the former Hereford academy graduate being felled by Latvia keeper Krisjanis Zviedris, no penalty was to be awarded.

Jude Bellingham: 6.5/10 - Lucky to avoid a second yellow when sending Raivis Jurkovskis sprawling midway through the second half. Replaced by Phil Foden midway through the second half

Harry Kane: 7.5/10 - Early header flew over the bar when well-placed. Spurned a second half chance when he drove the wrong side of the far post but showed his class when slotting home Rice’s cross shortly afterwards for England’s second goal - and his 71st international strike for the Three Lions

Marcus Rashford: 5/10 - Underwhelming, and struggled to make an impact in the game

Morgan Rogers: 8/10 - Preferred to Curtis Jones. Excellent movement on and off the ball when looking for space. Posted six shots in an encouraging performance

Substitutes:

Eberechi Eze: 8/10 - Swapped with Bowen on the hour mark. Deserved his gaol for his peristence and trickery in a crowded box

Phil Foden: 7.5/10 - Replaced Bellingham on 67 minutes. Provided an assist for Eze

Kyle Walker: 7/10 -  Swapped with MLS late on for his 95th England cap

Jordan Henderson: 6/10 - Came on for Rice on 79 minutes after the Arsenal midfielder put in a shift for Thomas Tuchel in his opening two games as England boss

Curtis Jones: 6.5/10 - Replaced the misfiring Rashford as the clock ticked down
