Tottenham Hotspur Women 1-5 Arsenal Women
Brisbane Road
Barclays Women’s Super League
Arsenal Women hit five against struggling Spurs to move into the top three in the WSL thanks to a brace from Caitlin Foord, alongside goals from Blackstenius, Little and Maanum.
Sabrina D’Angelo 7/10
Made her first league start for the Gunners and conceded her first goal after two clean sheets in the Conti Cup. Never seemed to make her mind up about where to dive for the penalty, not going either way and just getting stuck on her line. May well have the edge over Manu Zinsberger in terms of her kicking.
Noelle Maritz 6.5/10
Always ready to run into the space created by Pelova down the right wing, delivering some teasing crosses.
Leah Williamson 7.5/10
Comfortable to knock the ball around in defence before unleashing a more direct forward pass. Moved into midfield when Walti was subbed off for Rafaelle.
Lotte Wubben-Moy 8/10
Excellent on the ball, reading the game well- Arsenal’s biggest target from set pieces at Brisbane Road, coming close to heading in Arsenal’s sixth.
Katie McCabe 7.5/10
Returned to left back and was tested one on one by Celin Bizet. Can’t feel too hard-done by the penalty decision against her, but she crucially avoided a yellow card would mean she would be suspended for Arsenal’s vital WSL game against Man City.
Lia Walti 8/10
Has an almost telepathic relationship with Little in the middle of the park.
Kim Little 7.5/10
Helped to break things up in midfield and turn possession over. No goalkeeper is saving her penalty that gave Arsenal a 3-1 lead, slammed into the top corner.
Frida Maanum 7/10
Rarely needs a second invitation to take a shot on, and was given so much space to run into before her strike was deflected in for Arsenal’s fifth.
Victoria Pelova 9/10
Looked good on the right wing once again but looks capable of playing anywhere in attacking midfield. Assisted Foord’s first goal with a pinpoint outside of the foot pass and should have scored minutes later. Assisted Foord’s second with a brilliant bit of skill and even better delivery- what a performance from the January signing.
Caitlin Foord 9/10
Continued her red-hot form from the midweek Champions League tie with a cracking goal from the edge of the box into the bottom corner and then a calm finish off the post in the second half. At the top of her game right now.
Stina Blackstenius 7.5/10
Clever run across the defender and powerful finish to give Arsenal the lead within five minutes. Worked hard off the ball, regularly drifting to the right to link up with Pelova.
Laura Wienroither (Sub, 67’) 7/10
Continues to jostle with Maritz to start at right back.
Rafaelle Souza (Sub, 67’) 7.5/10
A top defender to be able to call upon from the bench.
Gio Queiroz (Sub, 77’)
Hit the crossbar with an inventive volley moments after being introduced but was worryingly forced off due to injury.
Jodie Taylor (Sub, 82)
Kathrine Kuhl (Sub, 82’)
Subs not used: Manu Zinsberger, Kaylan Marckese, Jen Beattie, Lina Hurtig.
