Renée Slegers speaks to the Gooner Fanzine after Arsenal Women beat Everton

The Gunners won 3-1 at Walton Hall Park to go second in the WSL

Renée Slegers spoke to the Gooner Fanzine following Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Everton at Walton Hall Park.

Alessia Russo netted a brace either side of Maren Mjelde’s own goal, with Toni Payne scoring for the home side.

Here’s what Slegers had to say at full time.

On Daphne van Domselaar’s concussion:

“Daphne, we don't have a timescale, so she's still being medically assessed. So we'll see how that progresses in the next couple of days.”

Emily Fox going off injured:

“Emily Fox should be fine. I think she got stamped on. I'll have to check, but nothing major. We had one more substitution to do, so we chose to take her off.”

Lina Hurtig coming on at right-back over Jenna Nighswonger and Amanda Ilestedt:

“Exactly, those three were the options for us. Lina has been training right- back this week because all the other players have been training in their positions and at the moment we don't have a natural back-up on the right back position.

“So Lina has been training there and she actually did well, so we felt like she was most suited right now because she had been training in the position, she knew the tactical plan from the right-back position.

“And she always has the strength, the aerial quality, she's very fast and she can play a big role for us on set pieces.”

Kim Little’s strong performance:

“Yeah, I'm very happy with that because we needed midfielders to progress today and the spaces on their left side, our right side opened up and I think Kim recognised that really well how she could make those runs and also progress by dribbling into those spaces, so that was very good, so I'm very happy with Kim's performance.”

Arsenal’s travelling supporters:

“Yeah, shout out to them because I think they create the atmosphere today like they always do and they follow us everywhere, so we're very grateful for the fans we have and we always want to deliver good football to them so it's worth it for them to invest time and money probably.

“So that's always a big driver for us, so I'm happy with that today.”
