Don't blame Wenger – it’s all Edelman's fault

Ebbsfleet, Charlton – yes. Arsenal – no.

I blame all this current crap that's happening to the Club very squarely at the feet of Nike and Edelman. Nike designed the Ebbsfleet United shirt we are currently forced to wear and I presume Edelman had final approval. Because Edelman was never really an Arsenal man, and because he's now gone and is thus a convenient scapegoat, it clearly has to be all his fault. He just never understood the importance of white sleeves. First he screwed up the badge, then he ditched our motto, then he minimised the Arsenalisation of our new home and finally, before being kicked out, he buggered up our traditional shirt. I regard it as a gross act of vandalism and is quite probably the real reason he was booted out.

As a shirt design there is nothing at all wrong with it… nothing that is for likes of Ebbsfleet or Charlton. But without white sleeves it is just absolutely not an Arsenal shirt, which is why discerning individuals such as myself have chosen not to buy it or wear it. The team, who clearly have no choice in the matter just don't look like an Arsenal team when playing in it, so are obviously not going to perform like an Arsenal side. And that essentially has been the problem. Can we possibly be surprised that Charlton should lose at home to Hull or that even Ebbsfleet should capitulate in the closing minutes to dross such as the Scum. I think not.

What grieves me most is that there still a season and a half remaining before our team get to play in proper Arsenal shirts again. Manchester United chucked away that grey shirt of theirs as soon as they were slaughtered by Southampton. A brave move by Ferguson. Drastic measures are called for by Wenger right now and the obvious answer is to ditch that monstrosity of a shirt. It is just so not Arsenal and it has to go.
