Strong words about the number 27, but the buck stops with the manager

Eboue: ‘mare

Ebooooooooooooooooooooooooooué!! That's the first time I've heard an Arsenal player booed at home since a few boos aimed at Kevin Campbell in the early 1990s. But I can't recall ever seeing a worse performance by an Arsenal first team player and I also can't remember a sub being subbed simply because he was having a mare. That must rank as the worst showing by an Arsenal player in our recent history.

Booing him was never going to help matters but, whilst I didn't join in, I fully understand why it happened:-

1) Yesterday's performance was once again awful; only the fact that Wigan were equally poor allowed us to emerge with 3 points and a clean sheet.

2) Eboue has been below the standard required of a Top 4 team for months and his theatrics just make matters worse.

3) The wage bill at Arsenal is over £100million per year.

4) Tickets cost up to £180 per match (club level) at a time when most of us are really struggling financially.

5) Arsenal FC have decided that wealthy, corporate supporters are their priority, presumably to pay the £100million wage bill.

6) Arsene bangs on about how buying older players holds back the talented youngsters but when he brought the ineffective Eboue on, he had Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere on the bench.

Eboue may have copped the flak but the buck stops with the manager - he picks the team and several of that team aren't justifying their huge salaries.

Maybe if players were paid sensibly and tickets cost a tenner, supporters wouldn't get quite so angry.
