In the 20 years I have been attending Highbury and now the Grove, I have seen some bad players. A midfield that contained Eddie McGoldrick, John Jensen and Jimmy Carter... now that’s bad. Eboue... Is he really that bad? Of course not. Granted he will never be a worldbeater, but he has pace, he can tackle and he can cross. He is symptomatic of Arsenal as a whole. Far too inconsistent. Saturday was frustrating. But we were still winning!!
Instead of encouraging the team to keep going and get the second we should have scored several times, we turned on a easy target - Eboue.
What will our best players be thinking now? Does Cesc now ponder his future? If the crowd are booing when we are winning, what will happen when we start losing again?
I'm afraid to say it but we have a large amount of modern day glory hunters at Ashburton, as do the rest of the big clubs in the Premiership. As I wrote in my previous article, some fans are more interested in half time entertainment and rushing to the pineapple and chesse chunks on a stick as soon as the ref raises his whistle to his gob.
I for one have never or will never boo a footballer wearing red with white sleeves. And those who do clearly do not love our club and our players the way a true fan should. Those who do boo please go back to supporting Man Utd or Chelsea or whoever is top of the league.
