I went to the game against Pompey on Sunday. I had a seat among the Gods at the very top behind the goal, ye Gods I don't do heights. They started singing ‘Stand up if you hate Tottenham’, and I wanted to, I really did, but please forgive me I was hanging on to my seat so firmly if I thought if I stand up now I will live the nightmare of falling from a great height. But trust me when I say I do hate Tottenham, honest I do, lol.
Anyway back to the match. The first half? Zzzzzzz . Thank God Portsmouth were a bigger shambles than us, otherwise any other team would have taken us to the cleaners. We have been saying all season that we need another central defensive midfielder to share the burden with Cesc. Well now we have lost our best player for the rest of the season so I guess logic would suggest that we now need two quality midfield players.
I think we need two new central defenders, and a forward who knows where the goal is because Van Persie at the moment is the only one out of the three fit ones we have who is quality. I was watching Adebayor in the second half and I haven't seen such a lazy performance from any forward for a long time. He was just trotting about not getting involved in the slightest, no leading the line, just a big lump cheating his team-mates, his manager and us the paying fans. This guy is on about £80,000 a week and he can't even raise the effort to break into a sweat, disgraceful.
I am really trying to stay positive about what's going on at our club at the moment, and the fact that the manager has finally admitted he needs to freshen up the team/squad with some new signings is great news, however I'm not getting too excited yet about who he plans to bring in. We're all expecting some familiar names yet somehow I wouldn't be surprised if he signs some complete unknowns which we know he prefers to do.
I think maybe Bendtner, Song, Denilson, and Eboue should be given some time out of the firing line for a while, back to the reserves to find some form and to find what little self confidence they might have left. Give Wilshere, Vela, and Ramsey some more starts, as they surely can't be any worse than the four I have already mentioned. I don't think Wilshere is too young, Rooney started at 16 with Everton, Cesc about the same with us or maybe not long after and the saying is true, if you're good enough you're old enough.
Finally I'd just like to say how good are our full backs Sagna and Clichy? Surely the best in the Premiership. I wish Arsene could buy center backs as good as them.
Happy New Year to all Gooners.
