Enough False Dawns

RVP: Form starting to dip

Like many, I watched yet another derisory league performance against a Sunderland team who defended well, but let’s be honest, we should have beaten them, with the extra incentive of Villa being beaten earlier by the Chavski. It was on a plate, but we refused to eat it.

What happened to the performance of the previous game against Cardiff? I really thought we turned the corner, but it turned out it was another false dawn and I’ve had enough. It’s interesting to see that the club have frozen ticket prices for next season, as if they finish outside the top four, there won’t be many renewals. People will refuse to pay through the nose to watch UEFA Cup football and a team that won’t challenge for the title.

Should players like Cesc, RVP and Adebayor leave, would you pay £60 plus to watch the likes of Bendtner and Eboue week-in, week-out? I don’t think so. Arshavin was the only decent thing to come out of the game. He could have had a hat-trick in the first 30 minutes. Rightly so the team were booed off the pitch and I’m not ashamed to say that I was one of them because this has gone beyond a joke now. I could understand if this was the odd game but it’s been like that all season. We haven’t reached anywhere near the level when we beat Man Utd in November. There have been glimpses here and there but that’s it and that won’t win you anything.

Now, onto some of the policies of the club. I’m starting to get fed up (and I’m sure you are too) of stewards telling fans to sit down or stop swearing or jumping up and down, when they let the away fans do all three. No wonder there’s no atmosphere at the E******s. I was at the recent Brazil v Italy match and even then you had two of the most passionate groups of fans in the world being told to pipe down as it was "E******s Stadium policy". Well, I think whoever came up with that policy must be shown the door and get somebody in who knows what us fans want and not to cater so much for corporate people.

I believe that if you pay your money, you are entitled to stand, sing and shout all you want, you can do it at all other grounds. For example, if you go to a concert and you’re in the seated section and your favourite song is playing, you ain’t just going to sit there are you? For me, it’s an embarrassment. If we made or were allowed to make a lot more noise in the way of cheering the team on, the stadium would be a bit more intimidating for visiting teams, instead of giving them an impetus to raise their game like Sunderland and those teams before them did.

We’ve only got 12 games left and I believe we need to at least win nine of them in a row if possible and see what happens with Villa. I’d hate to lose out to them, as you know they’d just be knocked out in the qualifying round like Everton a few years back. However, until Eduardo and Theo are back and with RVP starting to dip, I cannot see where our next goal is going to come from.
