Of course the directors’ have the best interests of the club at heart - they make a packet when they sell a chunk of it!

Fiszman: Any chance of a loan for a player or two?

For those who do not have a financial background here is a rough interpretation of the share dealings announced on Arsenal.com. Essentially Danny Fiszman has flogged some of his shares to Stan Kroenke.

So Fiszman trousered about £42.5 million in his Swiss tax haven, none of which I imagine will he be generously donating for new players. It was a great shame for Danny that the property market collapsed or it would have been a whole lot more. Still, this football lark makes it just so easy to make money against the general run of the financial markets that I suspect he's not that bothered. No wonder Dein flogged all his shares, it is just such easy money when you buy into football clubs for relative peanuts. Despite reducing his shareholding to 16% Danny still of course has the best interests of the Club at heart because it could make him even richer yet in the future.

Kroenke, who now owns 20.5% of the Arsenal shares, probably purchased because the pounds is dirt cheap against the dollar and maybe couldn't resist switching some readies out of dollars and into pounds. Like all the other directors it won't require him to put any money into the Club, in an Abramovich sort of way, but buying Arsenal shares it is still a good investment - so why would they need to put money in while we still have Wenger. If the Premiership club owners can ever introduce wage caps, like they do in the States, then the owners' gravy train will be even more massive.

Hill-Wood our Old Etonian who was big in the banking world and whom previously slagged off Kroenke because 'we don't want his sort', or some such stupidity, spoke on behalf of our Club. Hill-Wood owns next to no shares himself nowadays but is still a mouthpiece for the Club and as such will read whatever prepared statements are placed before him. He perhaps has no idea what our long term game plan is but probably feels that if the existing directors can cream a few bob along the way that has to be good for the directors. As it was for himself when he flogged his, as it was for Dein when he flogged his and as it now is for Fiszman who has just flogged some of his. Hill-Wood's silly comments to the press, usually following a long lunch, will I'm sure continue to embarrass one and all.
