Thoughts after a sunny Sunday that turned ugly

Arsenal are now a second tier club...

Arsenal fans are feeling blue enough without this!

For a long time Arsenal have been regarded as a member of the BIG four. Now, this position amongst England’s elite superpowers, is under serious threat. Not from Aston Villa, or Everton, or the Spuds, but from ourselves. Or more to the point our players and ultimately our manager.

We now lead the mini-league of Villa, Everton, Spuds, and even Fulham, who are a vastly improved outfit since Roy Hodgson arrived.

Due to the disaster which was Sunday’s result, we now face a potentially very tricky qualifying round to secure a Champions League group berth. But, this is, at the moment, a minor detail. Sunday witnessed, without a doubt, one of the worst defensive displays under Wenger. Just four days after the previous one.

Why have things gone so badly wrong? Everyone will have an opinion. Poor defence, lazy players, poor tactics, bad luck, lack of experience. Personally I believe it is due to mixture of all of the above. But, the butt stops with Wenger in my book. His tactical decisions over the last month have been frankly baffling. His use of substitutions has always been questionable, but even more so in the big matches over the last few weeks.

And so another season of promise limps to a damp squib of a conclusion, with only another battering in the offing on Saturday, and a training session against Stoke on last day to look forward too. The E******s Cup must also be losing it’s attraction to Europe’s elite, if the best available to take part over the first weekend of August is, Atletico, PSG, and the Jocks. Not exactly mouthwatering. Tickets are still well overpriced at a minimum of £25 a day.

By then, how many players will have gone, but more important, how many will have arrived in N5? With Mr Wenger at the helm, not many I fear. And so we begin another summer of will he go, will he stay with Cesc. Hopefully it will be go for Ade-barn-dor, Eboue, even Bendtner. The boy certainly works a lot harder than Ade, but the sheer lack of respect shown by him just hours after our Champions League crash was truly disgraceful.

And to top it all we have another poxy BLUE away shirt to put up with next season. WE DON’T DO BLUE!!!!!!!
