The truth about Arsenal and Holloway Road underground station

Just to clear up the matter. The post-match situation is not the fault of either the police or Arsenal

The truth about Arsenal and Holloway Road underground station

So near, and yet so useless

Ian MacD (Leaving Ashburton early…) has obviously not followed the saga about transport links to the ground.

At one time there was massive concern that Holloway Road tube could not cope and Arsenal were being expected to come up with a way to get fans across Holloway Road. At one time this was supposed to be a factor against the stadium being built as it would've been too expensive.

During a survey of the area they discovered a disused tunnel under Holloway Road which Arsenal were prepared to pay to be refurbished. This meant the stadium got planning permission. The plans also allowed for a redevelopment of Drayton Park station.

However in their wisdom Transport for London and London Underground have decided NOT to spend any money on Holloway Road or Drayton Park but divert all the money into Finsbury Park. Blame them not Arsenal.

Arsenal have reneged on nothing whereas Transport for London have created a potential hazard. Don't blame the police either, they are just trying to manage a situation created by Tfl's crappy decision. As usual the fans bear the brunt of mismanagement which put Tfl's agenda ahead of people's safety and convenience.
