And from Jonnie (Hotbot.j): I read your article this afternoon after coming off night shift & after a short sleep, with bleary eyes & slowly wakening mind it got me thinking. I’ve been an Irish Gooner for nigh on 20 years and I feel that with Arsenal’s history, reputation & most importantly tradition, we should have a war cry of our own! It seems by the content of the article that RedAction feel the same way about it.

I’ve often wondered why our beloved Gooners never had a ‘theme tune’ a la the Scousers etc. and at times I’ve been moved by the unity felt at Anfield when they belted out that tune. And to agree with TH14, it is special. So after a quick cuppa & smoke, then immediately followed by another one I got to adapting a song that as soon as I recited it in my head once, I felt had legs (as a suggestion at least) after a bit of sensitive tweaking. It’s “Impossible Dream” by Andy Williams (used recently in the History of Honda ad). Maybe it has a strangely joyful hangover slant from last May to it, but it works for me!
