Lords knows I love Arsene Wenger and all he has done for the club. However when he says he loves the history of the club then he should know it's a bit rich for any Arsenal manager to complain about teams being overly defensive. How short are the memories of people?

Anyone who lived through the some of the dour sides George Graham turned out can't realistically complain when sides grind out results against us. I can remember George fielding a side with six players who had played centre back in it. (I believe it was Keown, Adams, Bould, O'Leary, Pates and Morrow)

What do you think the point of the song '1-0 to the Arsenal' was? We score once - game over. No-one complained about sticking ten men behind the ball and getting results at any cost. We won championships off the back of it. Entertainment was for wimps. Goddammit it was one of the things Tottenham used to whinge about. Results were all. Now we scorn Chelski for this tactic (granted it’s a bit sad that unlimited resources can only buy you a team that grinds out results) and we despise teams who play us and don't roll over for us.

Of course most teams taking an early lead against us home or away will put ten men behind the ball and try to shut up shop. We need to be more solid in defence and actually score from corners. Teams know that we only score from one in fifty corners, if that. If they thought there was a one in three chance of conceding a goal from a corner they would think twice about simply kicking it safe.

Don't get me wrong, I love the football we play now and I never thought I'd see such skill week in and out. Fantastic. But please let’s not turn into unbearably arrogant supporters like the Mancs. Remember our history and give respect to a boring grind out of a result. It wasn't pretty but there isn't a single Evertonian who gives a toss about that. (By the way, as for time wasting tactics, I think you'll find 'mad Jens' has cheating time like a bastard down to a fine art when required.)
